“You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:32
Serving through Love
Galatians 5:13 "For you are called to freedom, brothers; only don't use this freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but serve one another through love."
The definition of to serve means, to be in the service of; work for; to be useful or of service to; help; to render active service to; to render obedience or homage to; to perform the duties of; to contribute to; promote…and many other things, but I’ve mentioned these few definitions because they best apply to what serving through love means.
For some time now I’ve pondered service to Father and its importance and its need as well. Father truly doesn’t “need” servants. She is the Almighty God, the maker of Heaven and Earth. Truly, She needs none of us because She is complete all on Her own.
So why then, would She ask that we serve Her? Well if you actually stop and think about it, it’s really quite simple.
When you love someone, whether it be a husband or wife, parent, child or friend… would you not do anything for them (within reason of course) if they asked? And on special occasions, do we not look for all sorts of ways in which to tell them or show them that we love them? And when you really love someone, with all your heart, do we not let a day go by without telling them?
Of all of life's complexities that we routinely face, love is the most complex and at the same time it’s the one thing that is so deeply seeded within us that not one of us wishes to live without it. It is the subject of letters, novels, art, photography, clothing, poetry, songs, advertising, candy, perfume, game shows, board games, cards, movies, radio and TV shows and spoken of amongst ourselves on a daily basis. We are all at the beginning of our lives in need of it and for our entire lives in search of it, finding it, losing it and falling in and out of it. Love can be as abundant as it can be elusive.
I’m sure that it’s different for everyone, but this is how my love is for Father. It is such that in each passing day, I want to serve Her, by obeying Her commands and remaining faithful to Her.
Joshua 22:5 "Only carefully obey the command and instruction that Moses the LORD's servant gave you: to love the LORD your God, walk in all His ways, keep His commands, remain faithful to Him, and serve Him with all your heart and all your soul."
If you take the above scripture you’ll see that Father does not ask to be served first; She asks to be loved first. We are not commanded to love Her, but more to recognize the love that is already there for Her in our hearts and to give the love She first showed us back to Her via our actions – by keeping Her commands and remaining faithful to Her. You see the love IS there already, because She created us and we are all a part of Her. The only way it wouldn’t be there is if you were to rid yourself of it intentionally via the cultivation of a bad heart. Love can be squelched, but it can also flourish and when you truly come to understand Father, or even to just begin to know Her and Her ways, that’s when the love begins to fully bloom.
Every time I think of this, it strikes me as to how we truly, truly are created in Her image. She wishes nothing from us that we don’t wish of one another. To love and be loved and for those we love to be faithful to us.
Hebrews 6:10 For God is not unjust; He will not forget your work and the love you showed for His name when you served the saints—and you continue to serve them.
So when we serve Her, we serve Her out of love in the same way that we serve anyone we love… because we want to and because in return for all that She’s given us, it’s the very least we can do. And because it brings us more in union with Her and because to be pleasing to Her makes Her happy and in turn makes us happy. And also because to see Her will come into fruition and to have been asked to have played a small part in it all, is an honor and an act of love in itself considering Father Yahweh needs none of us to begin with, but instead wishes that Her children have a part in seeing that Her will is done.
I readily admit that I’ve only touched the very tip of the iceberg here, in explaining all the ways and reasons, ins and outs about serving through love, but I’ve shared my thoughts and what I know right now. The thing about Father is that She reveals Herself slowly to those who seek to know Her, and while this is my take on things today, tomorrow or the next day or even next month it could be completely different depending on what new understanding or wisdom Her Holy Spirit has so generously revealed to me. And in all honesty, this is also one of those few and far between times in which the English language seems to lack the ability in helping me to relay to all of you what I feel so deeply in my heart.
All I know is that coming to know Father in my service to Her has been the most amazing journey of my life so far and I know that there is still Eternity ahead in which to grow to learn and understand and love Her even more. But right now as things stand, I think what I love best about Father is that what you see is what you get. She doesn’t play any games. She’s fair and truthful, patient, compassionate and extremely forgiving. She never goes back on Her word and She holds nothing back. She is orderly, creative, and She tells it how it is and how it’ll be done yet at the same time patiently allows you figure things out for yourself. But and over and above all that and so many other things that have gone unmentioned for the sake of time and space, She is love. And because She is love, You know that Her love is true and She would literally rope the moon for you (and She is the only being in creation that actually could!) if it wouldn’t upset the plan set in place for the heavens and cause the earth off its axel and possibly send all of creation into chaos. Did I also mention that She’s incredibly intelligent? How couldn’t you love Her? I mean truly… why wouldn’t you want to serve someone so absolutely wonderful in so many ways?
Now take a look at the scripture at the beginning, Galatians 5:13. Because Father IS Love, it paints an interesting picture. It says to serve one another through love. In other words, Father is love. Love Father, and serve one another through Her love and through loving Her; love one another and in loving one another, you serve Father and in serving Father you are loved.
It’s deep, I know…and yet so amazing. That’s Father for you. You’ve just got to love Her.
Scriptures on Faith
This week I will be sharing Scriptures on Faith. With what is going on all over the world it is very important to remember our faith and to keep our faith strong. I know that it is sometimes hard to do but it is much easier to keep that faith in Father because She will take care of your needs. Just give it all to Father.
"Look, his ego is inflated; he is without integrity. But the righteous one will live by his faith."
"[ The Righteous Will Live by Faith ] For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is God's power for salvation to everyone who believes, first to the Jew, and also to the Greek."
"For in it God's righteousness is revealed from faith to faith, just as it is written: The righteous will live by faith."
"But the law is not based on faith; instead, the one who does these things will live by them."
"But My righteous one will live by faith; and if he draws back, My soul has no pleasure in him."
"He follows My statutes and keeps My ordinances, acting faithfully. Such a person is righteous; he will certainly live." [This is] the declaration of the Lord GOD ."
"Only goodness and faithful love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD as long as I live."
"For Your faithful love is before my eyes, and I live by Your truth."
1 Timothy 6:12
"Fight the good fight for the faith; take hold of eternal life, to which you were called and have made a good confession before many witnesses."
"For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead."
1 John 5:4
"because whatever has been born of God conquers the world. This is the victory that has conquered the world: our faith. "
"Now faith is the reality of what is hoped for, the proof of what is not seen."
Living As A Family
One morning/afternoon, I was led to the following Psalm:
Psalm 133 — How good and pleasant it is
when brothers can live together!
It is like fine oil on the head,
running down on the beard,
running down Aaron's beard,
on his robes.
It is like the dew of Hermon
falling on the mountains of Zion.
For there the LORD has appointed the blessing—
What struck me at the time was that the Psalm was only three verses long, yet, left me with so many questions that I did not have a total understanding for. Not to mention how many implications the whole Psalm has, along with its depth.
At first glance, the very first verse would make what would seem like simple sense. Yet, understanding the goodness and pleasantness of being able to live with one's brothers and actually experiencing it are two different things. It is understood that before Dawn Lucifer first willfully sinned, there was peace in heaven and all the holy angels knew peace. The current times do not show the peace that there might have been beforehand, and on a personal level, I know that the goodness and pleasantness that this scripture speaks of might be well beyond me because of only having lived on this planet for a little less than a couple dozen years. Even what I may think is a great brotherhood may still be a tainted and contorted by sin, and Father's perfect view of such a concept is much more than I can comprehend in a given moment. This brings to mind all the other concepts that are provided in scripture, like purity, integrity, loyalty, obedience, faithfulness, righteousness in all respects. There may be different definitions and understandings of each aspect of the Way, but the Way is always much more deeper than initially seen. Perhaps an analogy to this would be in reading Ecclesiastes, or maybe even Romans, or any other few words in the whole Holy Bible. The first time something is read, it may be understood in one manner, but the next time it is read, perhaps something more will stand out, or a different voice continues to read it in one's mind, stressing different words, syllables or concepts. Each time I read Ecclesiastes, I know it seems like there is something that I missed, even though I thought I was sure to read each word.
Something that seems to be an admirable quality in teachers is the ability of a teacher to always take a concept a step further. For example, for a High School math teacher to not only describe how to solve a math problem, but also to explain where one might require the technique in their career, and even further, how it may be useful in other areas of one's life. For example, using derivations not only to determine rates of change, but also to realize the concept of derivation and how the same methods can be applied to something as simple as putting the dishes away and making it a much more efficient activity. This same ability is mirrored from Father, as She truly is the origin of everything we can even think we know. Thus, when one thinks they have found peace, perhaps there is still a point that they have not yet achieved to truly know peace like Father knows peace. And such a concept can drive a person mad. In fact, perhaps it actually has, which shows that one must avoid extremes.
Now, to understand further about the oil running down one's face, consider that oil was used to anoint those who are dedicated to serving Father (Exodus 30:22-25 and 30). With this perspective in mind, the pleasantness and goodness of brothers being able to live together is being related to being anointed to serve Father, which is something very incredible. At the same time, understanding a background aspect of the verse helps to come to understand further how the psalm progresses from talking about brotherhood to Father's blessing of “life forevermore.”
Speaking of which, it is recalled that if Father must, She will wipe out all of creation, except for Christ, such that it would be Her and Her Son that are left, while everything else would be expelled. This brings to mind that Christ's sacrifice is an offer for the possibility of eternal life in Father's kingdom, just as Father anointed Christ, and provides Christ's ransom. Thus, because this is a gift that is given, one that cannot be earned or even somehow obtained without Father's express compassion and love, it is, in a way, a spiritually tangible item. It is an item that, if held too hard, can slip out of one's hands, an item that cannot be reached for (as it must be placed in one's hands), and if one is not careful and treats Father's gift with utmost care, they can lose it just as well as if they held Her too hard. Much more, Her gift is multi-faceted, which means that there is much more to Her gift than just one aspect. This means it is not just growth in chastity, but also in courage, and all righteousness. Much more, it is not a juggling act, but a coordination and cooperation routine that replaces the disorder that once ruled.
Further considering that the psalm is progressive, one can study the verses to see the steps to which the one concept leads to another. Each step, in its own way, also creates a sort of pattern that makes it unique, much like a jigsaw piece. This, in itself, shows how it may be best pieced together with other scriptures, and how there is a structure and way that each jigsaw piece can or cannot actually fit with other pieces. In another concept, biology teaches that catalysts are like jigsaw pieces that meet up with other components of the matching shape, and when they come together, they create a reaction that further breaks down the energy. Perhaps the Great Jigsaw can be seen in a similar way, in how matching up different correct pieces develops correct insight into what is further understood. Once one is able to see this structure, they may be able to even more detail within the structure, as it will show that one solid structure will be built on another, and another, making a fully visible item. Much more, it starts with Father's energy, and what is seen at the scale that it is able to be perceived is still Father's energy, from beginning to what is seen, and all beyond.
Something more that has come to mind concerning the last verse in this psalm is about the dew that one may wake up to outside. The dew of Hermon is related to Father's appointed blessing, and this is a very interesting concept, because dew is not something one can really just reach out and grab and actually have plenty of in one's hand. Dew not only needs to fall into one's hand, but one must also wait for it to come, and patiently wait for its collection. And so, all at once, it has been repeated what has already been said, while perhaps even leaving more questions to be answered.
The Way – Part 11
This week we continue looking at Wrong Attitudes to be Avoided. We will be sharing what has been given to us, but in groups of 3. Before our Ministry holds Bible Study each week, we pray to Father Yahweh for guidance and help in understanding Her Word. We pray the wisdom imparted will find its way to your heart where it may be written up on it. Amen. http://www.biblegateway.com can be used as a reference tool with the Holman Christian Standard Bible as the recommended version.

Nourishment From The Throne
“For the LORD gives wisdom. From His mouth come knowledge and understanding.” Proverbs 2:6
Prince of Yahweh II: A little lesson on Dawn's way of thinking:
Job 4:18 "If God puts no trust in His servants
and He charges His angels with foolishness,"
Dawn puts trust in no one, and he has charged his own fallen angels with the foolishness that will cause them eternal absence from Father's creation once all outside-tempter testing has been completed.
Dawn's miscalculations of how all Mankind would react under a given situation reveals that Dawn underestimated some of Mankind would remain faithful; in the spirit realm a little more than one-third of Father's heavenly angelic hosts have been unfaithful;in contrast, more of Mankind tilt the scale towards Dawn's way of thinking than the angelic hosts.
Here's an example of Dawn's miscalculation concerning Mankind's probable action if put under test, even though the test involved a single individual; note that Dawn lumped all of Mankind into the equation:
Job 2:4, 5 "Skin for skin!" Satan answered the LORD. "A man will give up everything he owns in exchange for his life. But stretch out Your hand and strike his flesh and bones, and he will surely curse You to Your face."
Dawn was lumping all humans ("man" is a term that represents humankind / mankind ) into his calculation that we are really all just a bunch of cowards that desire life over all else; in other words, our lives mean more to us than standing on Yahweh's side and upholding the Creator's laws especially if it means perishing to do so.
However kids, in the beginning of this recorded test, Job was picked by Father because: "There was a man in the country of Uz named Job. He was a man of perfect integrity, who feared God and turned away from evil." Job 1:1. Father knew Dawn's thoughts, and knew that Dawn was spreading his own doctrine to the angelic hosts about – in Dawn's way of twisted thinking that – "All of the Creator's creations serve Father purely out of fear and for selfish reasons." That is a quote from Dawn's own mouth from long ago; this is part of the propaganda he was spreading back before the battle that got him and his converted angelic hosts kicked out of Heaven.
So, Father chose Job because he was of perfect integrity and turned a deaf ear to Dawn's way of thinking; although Dawn did not choose Job, he lumped Job in with his theory that all of humankind were exactly the same; he used the same ideology that direct creations like the angelic hosts shared a common root with Mankind, and only served Father for the same reasons that people like Job were faithful; but in Dawn's mind, faithfulness to Father was coming with a high price, so he injected about Job's integrity: Job 1:9-11 "Satan answered the LORD, "Does Job fear God for nothing? Haven't You placed a hedge around him, his household, and everything he owns? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions are spread out in the land. But stretch out Your hand and strike everything he owns, and he will surely curse You to Your face."
So kids, Dawn was saying that as long as things are provided by Father, and things are going well, then Job would of course remain faithful and not be willing to upset the cart; but if Father appeared to alter things, because in reality Father is in control of all things, then undue hardship would cause Job to turn on Father. So, like job, Father also permitted Dawn to test out the heavenly court of angelic hosts by having them suffer the loss of certain privileges that had been the norm before Dawn planted the seed of rebellion. The Word reveals that a third of those angelic hosts rebelled and fought with him in the war to remain in Heaven that they were defeated by Michael and the remaining heavenly hosts; this "third" does not take into account those angelic hosts that sinned by coming to the Earth and living in counterfeit human vessels; this tilts the scale over the third mark, and it has grown just a little more past that mark in the past, but the vast majority of angelic hosts remained faithful out of LOVE, LOYALTY and DEVOTION to Father; the rest are like Dawn.
Today, Dawn uses the argument that all of the holy angelic hosts serve Father out of "PURE FEAR OF Annihilation." That's bogus; we all serve Father out of LOVE 😉
Testing is just part of proving Dawn the LIAR we all know he is; when we are tested, by remaining of integrity to Father and by turning away from Dawn's way of thinking, we know Father is pleased by our actions;
Remember, the wrath of destruction of Sodom did not occur until Lot and his family were safely away from that region; it will be the same for Father's remnant prior to Armageddon. Luke 17:29 "But on the day Lot left Sodom, fire and sulfur rained from heaven and destroyed them all."
P.S. Father puts trust in Her servants, and I assure all of you, those of us that serve in the capacity of holy angelic deputies do not do so on a foolish charge; we are all helping to climax this evil that exists in the pre-Armageddon era – even those of you charged with ministerial service

Strange Light Craft and Alien Gray Caught on Camera in Canadian Wilderness
March 14, 2009
We were recently contacted by a very interesting man who wanted us to look at a photo he took on his property located deep in the Canadian wilderness. The man was on his usual inspection of his property when he came across this huge light mass hovering over the trees lining one of his fields. He told us it was a massive extremely bright light that lit up his entire field. Along the right side of the light stood what looked like a rectangle structure of some type that seemed to be hovering next to this huge light. The man thought this was the strangest thing he had ever seen and luckily had his camera with him and took a picture of the lights and his field. The object was so strange looking the man became extremely fearful and immediately left the area after taking the photo.
More Odd, Changing Aerial Light Patterns, Now Over Beavercreek, Oregon
March 12, 2009
March 12, 2009 Beavercreek, Oregon – On January 29, 2009, I filed a 2-part Earthfiles report about more mysterious, multi-colored aerial light patterns photographed over Reno, Nevada, and Empire, Ohio. A week later, I received an email from a retired Wisconsin businessman in rural Elmwood, Wisconsin, who has taken more than one hundred digital still frames of a reappearing bright, aerial object. His images like all the others appear to be 3-dimensional, multi-colored patterns in the sky, changing shape every second or two. Today, I received similar images by email downloaded from the videotape of a woman who lives in Beavercreek, Clackamas County, Oregon, about 30 miles northeast of Salem.
Navy officer has UFO 'Close Encounter' along secluded CA highway
March 11, 2009
An off duty Navy petty officer second class had just gotten off duty at California's then Naval Air Station Miramar when his vehicle suddenly shut off along a dark and secluded piece of Interstate 15. As the man retrieved a gas can from his trunk for what could be a long walk into nearby Kearny Mesa – he hears an unusual sound – "a release of air" – that draws his attention into the darkness on the other side of the four-lane highway. He sees "an object of some type that is long, low and extremely streamlined and silohutted." The year is 1971. Following is his original account of the incident. Only minor editing changes were completed.

Description: Ok, so I was walking home from the bus with my friends. My friend and I were just walking and i looked up (randomly). At first, I thought they were planes. But then I saw one just freeze in mid air. Then the two other ones started flying towards each other and then move away, like a game. I showed my friend and he looked. He didn't see anything, so he just thought i was joking. When we walked a little further, i showed him again. They were a little more visible now. He could see them now and freaked out like "oh my god we gotta call someone!". We caught up with my other friends and they saw them right away. Only one of my friends' couldn't see them. They were appearing and disappearing. We watched them for a bit and then they finally disappeared. We're still amazed at what we saw.

Sen. Specter: Nation on 'brink of a depression'
March 9, 2009
HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — The nation is on the "brink of a depression," but there's a "reasonable chance" that the $787 billion economic stimulus package will help ease the situation, Sen. Arlen Specter said Monday. Specter, R-Pa., said the nation's economic situation is more dire than the public has been told, but did not elaborate. "Our economic problems are enormously serious — more serious than is publicly disclosed. And I think we're on the brink of a depression," he told reporters at the state Capitol.
Monks taken for 're-education' before Tibet uprising anniversary
by Jane Macartney
March 9, 2009
Police will take away more than 100 monks for political re-education today on the eve of the 50th anniversary of the Tibetan uprising that led to the flight of the Dalai Lama. The rounding up of 109 monks from Lutsang monastery in Qinghai province, western China, is one of a series of extraordinary security measures being implemented to prevent restive Tibetans from commemorating the anniversary with protests against Chinese rule. About a quarter of China’s territory, an area the size of Western Europe, has been closed off to foreigners. Thousands of troops and paramilitary police have been deployed in Tibetan-populated regions amid fears of a renewed outburst of the anti-Chinese violence that rocked the region a year ago. Winding mountain roads have been clogged for days with convoys of armoured military trucks and coaches bringing in reinforcements. Two counties of western Sichuan province, where some of the biggest demonstrations erupted last year, have been virtually cut off already from the outside world. Their internet and mobile phone systems have been blocked. From tomorrow, mobile phone users in the Tibetan capital, Lhasa, will find that they are virtually unable to communicate.

UK economy set for worst year since 1931 as output collapses
by Sean O'Grady
March 11, 2009
The industrial downturn is accelerating and the British economy is on course for its worst year since 1931, the latest official figures suggest. The Office for National Statistics reported yesterday that manufacturing output fell by 6.4 per cent in the three months to January – an even faster rate of decline than the 4.9 per cent contraction seen in the quarter to December. The motor industry was one of the hardest-hit sectors – output falling by 10.6 per cent during the quarter. Overall, the annual rate of decline in output has reached an alarming 12 per cent. Analysts were shocked by the figures, as they point to a GDP decline in the early part of this year that may prove even steeper than that seen during the last few months of 2008, when GDP shrank by 1.5 per cent. The research firm Capital Economics said that the trends could point to GDP contracting over 2009 by "4 per cent or so".
The proliferation of space warfare technology
by Matthew Hoey
March 13, 2009
* Given how easily information can spread about the globe today, it's inevitable that space warfare technology will proliferate.
* And once one country sets its sights on space domination, other countries are sure to follow, spurring a second arms race of sorts.
* That's why the international community and U.S. policy makers need to begin discussing the ramifications of pursuing military space immediately.
The November 2007 National Nano Engineering conference in Boston on advanced nanotechnology applications for commercial and military space systems included dozens of speakers and presentations on cutting-edge space applications. Hundreds of people attended, with nearly every seat in the hotel's grand ballroom filled for the first session. The list of invited speakers included researchers from the Naval Research Laboratory; the National Institute of Standards and Technology; NASA Goddard Space Flight Center; the national laboratories; international universities; and private space systems developers. Each explained in detail the recent advancements made in their respective fields.

Motive unclear in Alabama shooting spree
by Verna Gates
March 11, 2009
MONTGOMERY, Alabama (Reuters) – Authorities struggled on Wednesday to understand why an Alabama man shot dead 10 people, including his mother and four other relatives, before killing himself after a gunbattle with police. Michael McLendon's rampage, the worst in the southern state's history, bore the signs of a planned attack but lacked a clear motive, J. Christopher Murphy, director of the Alabama Department of Public Safety, told reporters. "He was not fired (from his job). There was no girlfriend breakup. He had no criminal record and no history of mental illness, all the things we normally look for," Murphy said. The 28-year-old gunman, who lived with his mother, was armed with two military assault rifles, a handgun and a shotgun in the shooting spree, which started at a home in Kinston in southeastern Alabama. He fired more than 200 rounds. McLendon killed his mother, grandmother, an uncle and two cousins as well as the wife of a local deputy sheriff and her 18-month-old daughter who were visiting family members.
21% of Americans scramble to pay medical, drug bills
by Liz Szabo and Julie Appleby
March 13, 2009
Denise Prosser, 39, has battled cancer since she was a toddler. Yet Prosser can't afford her next cancer treatment — a radioactive therapy that she's supposed to receive once a year — because she and her husband lost their jobs in December. Without insurance, she has postponed the radiation indefinitely and is taking only half of her asthma medications — sacrifices that often leave her gasping for air and could allow her cancer to come surging back. "I can't walk more than 100 feet without sounding like I just ran a marathon," says Prosser, of Galloway, N.J. Prosser is among millions of Americans who struggled last year to pay for health care or medications, the largest poll ever conducted by Gallup shows. As the economy fell, the percentage who reported having trouble paying for needed health care or medicines during the previous 12 months rose from 18% in January 2008 to 21% in December, according to the poll of 355,334 Americans. Each percentage point change in the full survey represents about 2.2 million people, says Jim Harter, Gallup's chief scientist for well-being and workplace management.
Report: 1 in 50 U.S. children face homelessness
March 10, 2009
One in 50 children is homeless in the United States every year, according to a report released Tuesday. The report, by the National Center on Family Homelessness, analyzed data from 2005-06 and found that more than 1.5 million children were without a home. "These numbers will grow as home foreclosures continue to rise," Ellen Bassuk, president of the center, said in a statement. The study ranked states on their performance in four areas: the extent of child homelessness, the risk for it, child well-being and the state's policy and planning efforts. The states that fared the poorest were Texas, Georgia, Arkansas, New Mexico and Louisiana. Connecticut, New Hampshire, Hawaii, Rhode Island and North Dakota performed the best. Homeless children have poor health, emotional problems and low graduation rates, the study found. "The consequences to our society will play out for decades," Bassuk said. "As we bail out the rest of our nation, it is also time to come to their aid."
'Fight club' set up at school for mentally disabled, police say
by Tracy Sabo

Workers at a Texas state school for mentally handicapped adults are believed to have been staging a "fight club" among residents, encouraging them to physically battle one another, police told CNN Tuesday. A cell phone containing videos of the alleged abuse at the Corpus Christi State School in Corpus Christi, Texas, was turned over to police last week, and authorities are expecting to file arrest warrants this week, Corpus Christi police Capt. Tim Wilson told CNN. The incidents are believed to have taken place in a school dormitory, Wilson said. "This has been going on for some time," Wilson said. "That is what makes this an exceptional case. It is not the workers abusing the clients, so to speak. The workers are not hitting them, but they are allowing these clients to fight with each other, thereby endangering their well-being." "These people are charged with the care and custody of these clients, and they are exploiting (them)," he said.
Sales of guns, ammo still high
by Kelly Bostian
March 13, 2009
Four months after the election of President Barack Obama, firearms and ammunition sales in Tulsa remain at a fever pitch. Popular self-protection ammunition is often sold out at local stores, weapons are flying off shelves and the state reports an 87 percent increase in concealed carry permit applications for February 2009 over February 2008. "People are hoarding. They're creating a shortage," Jim Prall at Sports World on 41st Street said of ammunition sales. "We've sold more ammunition in the last three months than we sold last year."

CURRENT CASES THIS WEEK:
deedee65 – Othello, WA. – We had a baby on May 30 that was premature (1lb 6oz). He spent most of his life in the hospital, but did get to come home for a little while. He had 2 surgeries, one was and open heart surgery. He was doing better and then he got a blood clot which caused a stroke. After 8 1/2 months we lost him. Things have been real tight with having to travel to see him in the hospital and having to take time off for him. We are juat getting back to work after the funeral. We not going to have paychecks in time to cover some of the bills that need to be taken care of right now. We are on the verge of losing both our vehicles and having problems covering all the bills. We have not been able to pay rent for 2 months. If you can Please help it has been a long 8 months for our family. We are live in Othello, WA.
kidsmom79 – Tacoma, WA. – I'm a single mom of 4 children. In the past year I have had a baby, (my tubes are tied) started a business in my home (an in home daycare, I know have 4 full time kids and 6 part time kids) so I can be with my kids and work I work 7 days a week, from 5 am till 10pm or later on most days. Plus lots of paper work on other hours. Some nights I only get 4 hours asleep or less. I've worked my butt off not to loose our home after my babys father left when I was three months pregnant and sick. I only took one week off after I had my baby. I never say no to business, as I need the money. Till recently the only bill I could really pay was my rent. And now my income is so much better and I can pay more, but during the last 9 or so months I wasn't able to pay any money towards my Tacoma Utility bill, as you know this is 5 bills in one. I have to say its been a miracle that I never received a shut off notice. I finally had some money and I just paid them $300 towards the bill and Metropolitcan council paid $150 towards the power part last month. Since paying, it must have done something to my account so today I got a shut off notice. Of course my bill is super high. I have to pay $2200 to avoid being shut off. Next week I'll have another 200 to put on it, but there is no way I can pay this off in time to avoid being shut off. I'm begging someone or lots of someones to help out in any way. I have proof of EVERYTHING. My shut off notice, the business I started, my income for the last year, my kids, birth certs, my baby being born, my ex leaving us to be homeless, etc. EVERYTHING. There are no places to help out with the other parts of the bill, only the power. I have no problem giving my account number of Tacoma Utilities to call and hear the amount I owe and to pay it directly. I have no problem signing a contract to pay anything back. I can do it, I just can't pay it all so quickly. Please, I beg everyone and anyone for help. I can't be without power or water or garbage or any of it, my business would have to close as well during that time. I wouldn't be able to feed my children or make my baby her bottle or anything. I'm so desperate. Thank you for reading. God Bless! ****UPDATE**** I was able to set up payment arrangements for the next four months on the balance. ( I paid $300, and MDC paid $185 and $150) I have to pay $560 the next four months plus whatever my new bills will be (first payment due by the 30th of this month). So if anyone can put anything towards it would be great. Anything will help. I am more than willing to pay back every dime. $700 of my bill is power so I know I can get a bit more help from other places towards that part.
joannalg -Newport News, VA. – I am doing something I never thought I would have to but I have no choice. About a year and a half ago I got very sick at the time I had only been married a short time. At the time of when I first got sick I was told that I might die and that I could no longer work. I have had 8 surgeries, been in and out of the hospital more than I can count, and am not getting much better. I have maybe 2 to 3 years at best with my illness, I am terminal. The man I married did not love me, when we found out that I was ill, 6 months into my illness he asked me to move out, this after taking me for everything I had, I have lost my job, my health insurance, dental insurance, and am staying with my aging mother and can no longer stay here because Iam not over 65. I have no where to go, I am trying to get Social Security and that may take up to 6 months, I have lost my car, and am taking less than what I am suppose to take for medication. Most days I am just in pain, but what scares me the most is that I am sick and am about to be homeless. I have worked all my life, never thought I would ever be in the position I am in today, and I need help so badly and really have no where to turn. I have gone to some churchs for help but have been for the most part turned away. I have never asked anyone for help in my life, the thought of being homeless and sick is something worse than the illness that I have, I am so scared, I have prayed and prayed for help, and am doing my best to keep faith that something will turn around. I really have no where to go, I was asked to post why I needed help, well this is it in a nutshell. I married someone who used me for what he could get, got very sick and now am dying and he kicked me out because I was ill, and now have nothing not even health insurance and I am scared to death. I have never asked anyone in my life for help, so this is a hard thing for me to do, it is not because I am someone who doesn't want to work or have lack of education I am just very sick and have lost everything. God Bless those that read this and thank you for sending me this site and asking me to post as to why I was in need of help.

RoseMerry – Willcox AZ. – My friend has been disabled since birth, and her husband, who was a disabled vet, passed away 1-28. She is currently without any income at all until her widow's benefits begin. They say it will take 3-9 months for her benefits to start. We are hoping to get her SS benefits started sooner. In the meantime, she has been having periodic panic attacks, worrying about being evicted from the home she is renting. She is currently two months past due with her rent, which is $500 per month. I am trying to find any resources to help her with at least one month's rent. I know that once her benefits start that she will be more than happy to repay any funds that might be made available to her during this difficult time. We have been to SEACAPs both last month and this month, and they do not currently have any funds available for rent for this area. Any help will be very much appreciated. Thank You, RoseMerry

Signs in Natural Disasters
“You are going to hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, because these things must take place, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise up against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places.” Matthew 24:6-7
Drought a $1 billion disaster in Texas
By Betsy Blaney, AP Agriculture Writer
LUBBOCK, Texas — Agriculture officials said Friday that ranchers in the nation's largest cattle-producing state have already lost nearly $1 billion because of Texas' ongoing drought. Officials said cattle raisers have lost $829 million since last summer, $569 million of that since November. Recent rains across much of the state, though welcome, came too late. Ranchers have spent substantial money on hay and supplemental feed, the cost of trucking in additional hay. The drought losses also include failed wheat crops usually used for grazing. All of Texas is in some stage of drought for the second straight week, according to the U.S. Drought Monitor map released Thursday. Worst hit is Central Texas and the Hill Country, where exceptional drought, the most severe designation, has persisted for months and is the driest area in the U.S. Texas just had its driest December-February stretch on record. More than 60% of the state's beef cows are in counties with severe to exceptional drought — the three worst stages. Losses will likely grow past $1 billion in the next two months as livestock producers continue to make supplemental feed purchases or sell cattle and calves in a declining market, said David Anderson, an agriculture marketing economist with Texas AgriLife Extension Service.
Fledgling Mantle Plume May Be Cause of African Volcano's Unique Lava
University of Rochester
March 13, 2009
Nyiragongo, an active African volcano, possesses lava unlike any other in the world, which may point toward its source being a new mantle plume, says a University of Rochester geochemist. The lava composition indicates that a mantle plume—an upwelling of intense heat from near the core of the Earth—may be bubbling to life beneath the soil of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The findings are presented in the current issue of the journal Chemical Geology. "This is the most fluid lava anyone has seen in the world," says Asish Basu, professor of earth science at the University of Rochester. "It's unlike anything coming out of any other volcano. We believe we're seeing the beginning of a plume that is buoying up the entire area and contributing to volcanism and earthquakes." Basu analyzed the lava, which resides in the world's largest lava lake—more than 600 feet wide inside the summit of Nyiragongo—and found that the isotopic compositions of neodymium and strontium are identical to ancient asteroids. This suggests, says Basu, that the lava is coming from a place deep inside the Earth where the source of molten rock is in its pristine condition.
Sea levels 'to surge at least a metre'
From correspondents in Copenhagen | March 11, 2009
Article from: Agence France-Presse
SCIENTISTS have warned that the impact of global warming is accelerating well beyond a forecast made by UN experts two years ago. Sea levels this century may rise several times higher than predictions made in 2007 that form the scientific foundation for policymakers today, a meeting meeting of climate experts has heard. In March 2007, the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) concluded that global warming, if unchecked, would lead to a devastating amalgam of floods, drought, disease and extreme weather by the century end. The world's oceans would creep up 18cm to 59 centimetres, enough to wipe out several small island nations and wreak havoc for tens of millions living in low-lying deltas in east Asia, the Indian subcontinent and Africa. But a new study, presented at the Copenhagen meeting overnight, factored in likely water runoff from disintegrating glaciers in Greenland and Antarctica, and found the rise could be much higher.
100 earthquakes in a month in WA town
March 9, 2009
There's been a whole lot of shaking going on, of the earthquake variety, in a small West Australian wheatbelt town. Beacon, 320km north-east of Perth, has had roughly 100 earthquakes in the last month, Geoscience Australia seismologist Phil Cummins said on Sunday. Between three and six earthquakes registering three and above on the Richter Scale had been detected in the area in the last month. "A few of those have been in the mid to high fours," Mr Cummins said. The largest, which registered nearly five on the Richter Scale came within 24 hours of earthquakes in Melbourne and off the coast near Broome on Friday.
Tornadoes, severe storms rattle Midwest
By the Associated Press
Strong storms including at least three tornadoes damaged or destroyed homes in parts of the Midwest, and rainfall brought fears of more misery to areas hard-hit by flooding last year. The National Weather Service confirmed Monday that damage in Illinois and Indiana on Sunday was the result of tornadoes. One struck Sunday in Columbia City, Ind., where three trailers were destroyed and about 20 others damaged at a mobile home park. "I looked outside and saw a bunch of milk cartons go flying by," Don Hart said. "Then a great big sheet, about eight foot, of aluminum siding flew right next to my window." The weather service said two tornadoes struck in central Illinois on Sunday. One damaged or destroyed about 30 structures in Laomi, Sangamon County Sheriff's Lt. Jeff Berker told The (Springfield) Journal-Register. Three people suffered minor injuries. Another tornado destroyed a church and a farm house near Greenfield, Ill., about 60 miles north of St. Louis, the weather service said. And thousands of people lost power Sunday across central Illinois, including most of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign campus.

OREGON – A swarm of small earthquakes — more than 280 of them since the first of the year — is tickling an area near eastern Washington's Hanford Nuclear Reservation. The quakes are too small to disturb the radioactive material stored at Hanford or to interfere with cleanup operations there. The plant processed plutonium for nuclear weapons during World War II and the Cold War. The quakes have caused some minor problems at the LIGO laboratory at Hanford, however, knocking sensitive equipment off-line for a few minutes at a time. The sprawling facility — LIGO stands for Laser Interferometer Gravitational-wave Observatory — was built to measure ripples in the fabric of space and time. Cosmic gravitational waves are produced by such things as the collision of black holes or shockwaves from supernova explosions. The quakes are centered near Wooded Island on the Columbia River, about eight miles north of Richland. The largest was magnitude 2.9 and most were smaller than 1.0. Because they are small and occurring relatively close to the surface, less than two miles deep, researchers believe the quakes are happening within the Columbia River basalt layers rather than a deeper and more dangerous fault zone. As a result, a large earthquake is considered unlikely. Earthquake swarms were reported in the same area in 1970, 1975 and 1988 and are not unusual in eastern Washington and eastern Oregon. Meanwhile, a much larger earthquake was detected west of Grants Pass on Feb. 26. It measured 4.1 and surprised scientists because a deep, strong quake was not expected in that area. "All in all it's been an interesting week for earthquakes."
AUSTRALIA – Seismologists are at a loss to explain the flurry of earthquakes that have hit a small Wheatbelt town. Beacon, 320km north-west of Perth, has had roughly 100 earthquakes in the last month. The largest, which registered nearly five on the Richter Scale came within 24 hours of earthquakes in Melbourne and off the coast near Broome on Friday. The earthquake clusters, known as swarms, were not unusual for the wheatbelt area but what was UNUSUAL was the migration of the swarms around the wheatbelt. Similar patterns were noted in Koorda in 2003 to 2005 and Burrakin between 2000 and 2002. "These ones like the Beacon case where you seem to get several moderate earthquakes and then lots and lots of smaller quakes, it is a bit unusual. It's called a swarm because it doesn't follow the typical foreshock, minishock, aftershock pattern or at least it doesn't seem to. That's this migrating swarm, I'm not sure I've ever heard of that before. For that area it would seem that this behaviour is not atypical." Seismologists were uncertain if the swarms were related to larger earthquake events such as the wheatbelt's Meckering earthquake in 1968, which registered 6.8 on the Richter scale. The seismic activity could be relieving stresses and avoiding larger earthquakes or it could result in a big rupture. "They seem to die out gradually, we don't really know that much of what to expect, I mean Burrakin went on for a couple of years, Koorda sort of gradually started up and faded out. It could continue for a while."
Korumburra earthquake BIGGEST FOR 36 YEARS – Scientists have moved to calm nerves after the biggest earthquake to rattle Melbourne in 36 years. Friday night's rumble measured 4.6 on the Richter scale.
NORWAY – A major earthquake which measured 6.5 on the Richter scale hit off the coast of the Arctic archipelago of Svalbard on Friday. This is THE STRONGEST QUAKE EVER REGISTERED IN THIS PART OF THE WORLD. There are no reports of any damage. If a quake of this strength had hit the mainland, the damage would have been considerable, experts say. Friday's quake comes just one year after the last record tremor in the region. On February 21st last year a quake measuring 6.0 on the Richter scale was registered, also off the coast of Svalbard.
NEW YORK – 3/7/09 – There were reports of a big "boom" and a brilliant yellow streak in the skies north of New York City. There was no seismic activity in the region. The sound early Saturday has been likened to a window-rattling explosion. Police got a flurry of reports from people in Scarsdale, Mount Vernon, Yonkers, Tuckahoe, Eastchester and Bronxville. An witness to the spectacle early Saturday in Westchester County apparently saw a meteorite fireball. A collector is offering $10,000 for a piece of the meteorite. Another "boom" was reported early Monday in neighboring Rockland County.
A second loud boom – 3/9/09 – may have rattled windows in parts of Rockland County Monday – and its origin remains as mysterious as the explosive noise that blew through southern Westchester County over the weekend. "It was about 5:15 a.m., and it woke up the whole house. The house was shaking. It sounded like someone had flown an F-16 over the house." An earlier unexplained "boom" shook homes in parts of southern Westchester early Saturday. That noise, and the one that reportedly woke up parts of Rockland yesterday, was unlikely to be an earthquake, weather pattern, falling space debris or a civilian aircraft, officials from local, state and federal agencies said. The likelihood of the boom being from a meteorite would be "very rare." "When people say bigger, they usually mean brighter. It is possible that something in the atmosphere can do that, but it is very rare. But seeing it moving in a downward arc would be an optical illusion. You would not be able to see that." There also have been no confirmed reports of seismic activity over the weekend.
CALIFORNIA – 3/4/09 – had a similar boom mystery a few days earlier. The search for the cause of the sonic boom Central Coast residents felt Wednesday morning may be a bust. A Federal Aviation Administration official said the search for the source of the mysterious morning rattling has turned up nothing. "We reviewed all the radar data for flights in the airspace in Northern California around the time that people reported this boom. There were several military aircraft operating but they were slow. None of these aircraft were going supersonic." The Orange County Register reported a sonic boom 12 hours before what was heard on the Central Coast on Wednesday. The mystery has spurred its share of conspiracy theories. On the Sentinel Web site, readers comments suggested the boom was E.T.'s return, an intercontinental missile fired by North Korea, a chemtrail weather modification program or test runs of new, secret U.S. Navy jets. Orange County residents had similar theories after thousands of doors and windows across the county rattled and vibrated. Some suggested an asteroid was the source of the shaking. The asteroid passed by Monday night. A U.S. Geological Survey spokesperson said the shaking was not caused by an earthquake, though several people called 911 to report a possible rattler after the boom.
NEW ZEALAND – There has been an enormous eruption in an underwater volcano about 300 kilometres from the Bay of Plenty. Using underwater mapping devices, scientists have found evidence of the eruption by the Rumble III Volcano near the Kermadecs. Rumble III, which is part of the 250-kilometre South Kermadec Ridge, rises 2300 metres from the sea floor. Until 2007, its summit was within about 200m of the sea surface. However, scientists on a research ship that has just spent two weeks investigating underwater volcanoes have found a "startling change" in the shape of the summit, which has reduced in height by about 100m. The volcano has endured a "fairly catastrophic" eruption. A map made in 2007 showed an 800m-wide crater near the top, but the new map now shows the crater had been filled and the nearby summit cone had shrunk. "This suggests there has been a major eruption that collapsed the summit cone and filled the adjacent crater." The eruption is consistent with the fact that a number of the 90 submarine volcanoes along the Kermadec Arc are highly active. Some of the volcanoes along the 2000 kilometre underwater chain, which runs northeast of New Zealand between the Bay of Plenty and Tonga, are as big as Mt Ruapehu.
JAPAN – One of Japan's most active volcanoes has erupted, spewing out lava and debris as far as 2kms away. The Sakurajima volcano, near the southern city of Kagoshima, belched lava seven times from 5.22am. "It's possible that the volcano will step up activity, and we have issued a warning to residents living nearby." The volcano, about 950km southwest of Tokyo, continued to spout fumes, although they were down from an earlier high of 1,200m. The volcano last erupted in February, and the agency earlier this month boosted the alert level by a notch.
INDONESIA – The highest mountain on Java Island Mt. Semeru did not show significant volcanic activities on Monday, but residents were still urged to stay away from around 4 km from its crater to make sure of their safety in case of deteriorating situation. The volcano erupted Friday, belching smoke and ash into the sky and coating the nearby town of Lumajang in fine black ash. "We could not see material spewing from the crater now because of it's covered by fog." The mountain produced a huge explosion Friday, followed by 873 minor quakes, 34 eruptions and 18 tremors.
HAWAII – Volcanic smog shutting down some Hawaii farmers. The Big Island has long dealt with vog, but levels increased dramatically ever since Kilauea started a new eruption at Halemaumau in March last year. Sulfur dioxide has wiped out multiple small farms and nurseries in the largely rural district of Kau next to Kilauea volcano. At fault are the noxious fumes that have been pouring out of the Kilauea volcano in UNPRECEDENTED VOLUMES since last spring.
ALASKA – Okmok Volcano warning level raised to yellow on the 2nd – The Alaska Volcano Observatory raised the warning level for Okmok to yellow, or advisory, last Monday after a series of seismic bursts that lasted for six hours. The tremors repeated again Wednesday but have since subsided. "Signals like this sometimes precede eruptions on the scale of hours to days, sometimes weeks or longer. And then sometimes the volcano just goes back to sleep. So you have to be cautious and assume that it may erupt and it could do so quickly, so that's the basis for our treating it with caution and changing the color code. On the other hand it could represent a new physical state of the volcano in which case it could do something different and then go back to sleep." Okmok erupted very suddenly in July but that was unusual. Its current behavior is reminiscent of the tremors between 2003 and 2005. "It kind of turned on, turned off, turned on turned off. And we may be back to that activity now." Mount Cleveland is also marked yellow, but this is typical. It has small eruptions up to half a dozen times per year.
ALASKA – Redoubt alert level cut to 'yellow'. Its current state of unrest could continue for months or years without an eruption, but it's also possible that it could shift back into an eruptive phase.
AUSTRALIA – there is now only a small chance Cyclone Hamish will hit Queensland's coast.
An incredible stroke of luck appears to have saved the life of a fisherman, rescued after huge swells whipped up by Cyclone Hamish rolled a trawler off central Queensland. Two others are still missing.
Tropical cyclone Hamish was downgraded to a category three as it continues to be torn apart by fierce atmospheric winds.
Severe sand erosion from huge ocean swells caused by tropical cyclone Hamish has decimated beaches up and down the South-East Queensland coast. Beaches as far south as Coolangatta on the Gold Coast remain closed as the super storm cell, which has been downgraded to a category two system, continues to generate damaging winds and ABNORMALLY HIGH tides. "There's no sand at all, there's no beach. At high tide the water is coming in and eroding the beach right up to the tree line and our patrol tower. It is very dirty, there's a lot of logs and debris floating out there. I don't think there's going to be much beach left for the rest of the season." Gale-force winds are continuing to lash the Queensland coastline as storm surges associated with Tropical Cyclone Hamish threaten to flood low-lying properties at Urangan in Hervey Bay. Strong onshore winds have generated tides 20 centimetres above the highest astronomical tide. Waverider buoys have recorded ocean swells up to four metres in waters off Point Lookout on North Stradbroke Island, where a cargo ship lost 31 containers filled with 20,000 tonnes of ammonium nitrate this morning.
EXTREME HEAT / WILDFIRES / DROUGHT / CLIMATE CHANGE
U.S. – The dry weather is SETTING RECORDS ACROSS THE COUNTRY. Meteorologists say they haven't seen it this dry in North America in the first two months of a year SINCE THE 1800's. Farmers across the country are bracing for a tough crop season and a big water bill, and firefighters are already seeing a big increase in the number of wildfires across the country.
OREGON – It hasn't been this dry in Southern Oregon in nearly a decade. Now farmers and firefighters in the region are bracing for tough times.
OKLAHOMA – So far this year, Oklahoma has averaged only 1.24 inches of rain. The worst drought is in neighboring Texas, where less than an inch has fallen so far. That means more bad news for Oklahoma. Spring thunderstorms in the state typically come from the Gulf of Mexico via Texas. If Texas remains dry, then the Gulf air will lose moisture before reaching Oklahoma. Cotton and wheat crops are just two of the state's large cash crops that will likely suffer under the extremely dry conditions.
FLORIDA – With nearly desert-like conditions across South Florida, fire danger values are at extremely high levels. Florida is even drier this year than in 1989, when 600,000 acres of land burned. "We've had THE DRIEST WINTER ON RECORD in many parts of South Florida. West Palm Beach, for example, both January and February set the RECORD-LOW rainfall." With La Nina expected to continue through May, drier than normal conditions are likely to persist. Adding insult to injury, the unusually cold winter has also contributed to an increased fire danger.
COLORADO – The northern half of Colorado's Front Range is officially in a moderate drought. Much of the Front Range has received less than two inches of water in the past five months.
NEVADA – Recent heavy snowfall in the Sierra wasn't enough to dig western Nevada out of a drought.
LOUISIANA – Three wildfires burning in south Louisiana since the weekend are evidence that portion of the state is in a drought.
ALABAMA – Below-average rainfall coupled with already-low groundwater levels have brought drought conditions back to Alabama over the last month.
International scientists say the worst-case scenarios on climate change envisaged just two years ago are ALREADY BEING REALISED. There is a increasing risk of abrupt or irreversible climate shifts. Even modest temperature rises will affect millions of people, particularly in the developing world. In the Amazon rainforest there will be a 75% loss of tree cover if the world warms by three degrees for a century. The scientists hope that their conclusions will remove any excuses from the political process. "We've seen lots more data, we can see where we are, no new surprises, we have a problem." If the world was to warm by 5C over the next century, "you'd see hundreds of millions people, probably billions of people who would have to move and we know that would cause conflict, so we would see a very extended period of conflict around the world, decades or centuries as hundreds of millions of people move. So I think it's very important that we understand the magnitude of the risk we are running." Scientists say most tools needed to cut carbon dioxide emissions already exist. "Business as usual is dead – green growth is the answer to both our climate and economic problems."
Climate scientists warn that world is heading for war of the resources – There is a 50-50 chance of temperature rises reaching dangerous levels over the next century, climate scientists have warned. Even with heavy cuts in greenhouse gas emissions of 3 per cent a year from 2015, the chance of preventing the temperature rise from exceeding 2C by 2050 is no more than half. And every decade's delay in reducing emissions will cause temperatures to go up by half a degree. If emissions peak in 2015 but are reduced at a rate of only 1 per cent annually, the temperature rise will be 2.9C. If emissions peak in 2035 the average temperature will rise by 4C above pre-industrial levels. Failure to cut emissions at all could leave temperatures to rise by 7.1C by the end of the century. Scientists fear that temperature rises above 2C would lead to wars over key resources, including water supplies, falls in crop yields in southern Europe and the spread of diseases such as malaria and dengue fever. Almost a third of animal and plant species could become extinct. A 2C rise could be delayed but it is extremely unlikely that it can be avoided. “In order to stabilise at a 2C rise we have to make very drastic cuts. But however drastic the emission cuts are, there is going to be a rise in temperatures. We are pretty much going to head towards 2C whatever we do. There are some impacts that are already happening and we are going to be living in a very different world.”
More bad news on climate change is expected as more than 2,000 climate scientists gather in Copenhagen. They will be trying to pull together the latest research on global warming ahead of political negotiations later in the year. The scientists are concerned that the 2007 reports of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) are already out of date.
The global sea level looks set to rise far higher than forecast because of changes in the polar ice-sheets, researchers suggest. 10% of the world's population – about 600 million people – live in low-lying areas. The IPCC estimate had been based largely on the expansion of oceans from higher temperatures, rather than meltwater and the impact of glaciers tumbling into the sea. "The most recent research showed that sea level is rising by 3mm a year since 1993, a rate well above the 20th century average." "Put bluntly, if it's 10cm below the height of the defence, then there's no problem. But if it's 10cm above the defence, then we could be looking at devastation."
"We need to look at what is a 'reasonable worst case' in the lifetime of people alive today," as even rich nations have yet to take such scenarios seriously. "A sea level rise of one or two metres would not just be damaging for China, it would be an absolute catastrophe. And what is catastrophic for China is catastrophic for the world." "The huge response from scientists comes from a sense of urgency, but also a sense of frustration. Most of us have been trained as scientists to not get our hands dirty by talking to politicians. But we now realise that what we are dealing with is so complicated and urgent that we have to help to make sure the results are understood." "A few years ago, those of us who talked about the impact of the ice sheets were seen as extremists. Today it is recognised as the central issue. THE WORLD HAS VERY LITTLE TIME."
The first catalogued fragments of shattered satellite Cosmos 2251 are about to reenter Earth's atmosphere. According to US Strategic Command tracking data, reentries will occur on March 12th, 28th and 30th, followed by more in April.

Signs in False Shepherds & False Religion
"For among them are those who worm their way into households and capture idle women burdened down with sins, led along by a variety of passions, always learning and never able to come to a knowledge of the truth. Just as Jannes and Jambres resisted Moses, so these also resist the truth, men who are corrupt in mind, worthless in regard to the faith. But they will not make further progress, for their lack of understanding will be clear to all, as theirs was also." 2 Timothy 3:6-9
When demons marry and people worship them in Kullu
Kullu, March 13 : People from across Himachal Pradesh converge every year in Kullu District's Chachogi village to participate in a unique festival in which both the Gods and demons are worshipped. The weeklong festival is known as "Kotlu". It is held to celebrate the compromise reached between the Gods and demons. "According to an agreement between the Gods and the demons demanded that they should be worshipped at least once in a year, and in return, they would not disturb their meditation or harm human beings. So this 'Kotlu' is celebrated to make the demons happy," claimed Kundan, a local. The festival is observed in the form of an act presented by four men dressed as demons and four men dressed as Gods. The demons are covered with green leaves and wear grotesque masks, after which ordinary people are not allowed to either touch them or talk to them. Men covered with flowers play as Gods. The attire and masks are said to be quite old. "Well in England, we also have a festival in spring time. So in that way, it is quite similar. But we do not celebrate a festival like this. So this is amazing," said British tourist Jayne Tinsley. Another folk legend says the Gods tricked a demon into marrying an ordinary girl instead of a Goddess. On the first day of the festival the Hindu God Mahabali is worshiped and on the fifth day, 'Kotlu' is celebrated. This year, the festival commenced on March 8 and will conclude on March 14. By Prem
Catholics protest 'maltreatment' by Conn. leaders
By SUSAN HAIGH Susan Haigh – Wed Mar 11, 7:51 pm ET
HARTFORD, Conn. – Thousands of Roman Catholics descended on the Connecticut statehouse Wednesday, as simmering resentment over bills they consider anti-Catholic reached a boiling point with a recent legislative attempt to give parishioners more say over parish financing. The sponsors of the now-withdrawn proposal, both Catholics themselves, have received thousands of mostly angry e-mails from across the country, as well as threats on their lives, state Capitol police said. Leaders of the General Assembly's Judiciary Committee pulled the bill from consideration Tuesday, but an estimated 3,500 people — led by the archbishop of Hartford and the bishops of Bridgeport and Hartford — rallied on the Capitol steps, demanding religious freedom. "No other church or religion in this state is being subjected to this maltreatment," said the Rev. Michael R. Cote, bishop of Norwich. "Today it is the Roman Catholic Church. Who will be next?"
Religious gays show pride in the holy city

JERUSALEM — The Purim masquerade party was advertised weeks ahead of time in bright pink letters across Jerusalem billboards, in newspapers and on flyers. But this was no ordinary celebration for the holiday when Jews dress in costume and drink alcohol. This Purim party would be hosted by the religious homosexuals of the holy city. The Queen's Fete — a Purim Drag Party was one of the hottest tickets in Israel's capital last night. Straight couples danced alongside gays and lesbians to the music of transsexual singer Dana International in the large open space of The Lab, a hip centre for the arts in Jerusalem. "This is the first time we are having a big event in a public place for religious gays," said Benny, a religious Jewish homosexual wearing a knitted skullcap and a purple feather boa who helped organize the event. "It's an amazing feeling." It was a far cry from previous years when Benny and his boyfriend, shunned by the religious community and not connecting with secular homosexuals, would celebrate the holiday with a few friends in someone's apartment. Now religiously observant gays are coming out of the closet and openly celebrating both their faith and their sexuality.
A word to Muslims, Christians

In her polite, retired-Catholic-schoolteacher way, Sister Mollie Reavis has had it with people who wonder why moderate Islam never speaks up when extremists resort to violence. "They have," she insists. She plunks down on the table a printed copy of an October 2007 open letter to Christians signed by 138 Muslim leaders from all over the world. Endorsed by 163 others, they are from schools and sects of Islam that, together, represent mainstream Islam. "More people need to read it," Reavis says. She and her Muslim counterpart, Jan Abushakrah, are co-chairwomen of the Institute for Christian-Muslim Understanding. The goal of the 5-year-old Portland group is to encourage more people to read the letter, "A Common Word Between Us and You." The institute hopes people will talk about the letter and, most importantly, get to work for the common good. Despite interfaith efforts after the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, ignorance and stereotypes persist, Reavis says. The institute's effort to build bridges is local, but it may have far-reaching consequences.
'Sex-y' sermons cause stir in rural Alabama

GOOD HOPE, Ala. – It's one thing for a church in a big city like Dallas or Atlanta to tackle the ticklish topic of sex. It blends in with the urban scene. It's another thing when a small-town congregation puts up billboards with the phrase "Great sex: God's way" on rural highways to promote a sermon series. You can't even legally buy beer in Cullman County, and a preacher is talking about S-E-X on Sunday morning? Daystar Church, whose congregation has grown dramatically under pastor Jerry Lawson, has run up against the sensibilities of a conservative north Alabama community with a monthlong focus on sex. Sex just isn't an appropriate topic for church, some say, and others are upset over the church's signs, which advertise the sermon series and accompanying Web site. "It's really stirred up the people here," said Good Hope town clerk Joann Jones.

Middle East Christians Facing 'Extreme Deprivation'

LONDON – The Bishop of Chichester, the Rt. Rev. John Hind, says Christians in the Middle East are facing “extreme deprivation.” Speaking in a debate on religious persecution in the House of Lords, Hind said, “In places where different faiths have coexisted for centuries we see the rapid attrition of the Christian church in its ancestral homelands,” as reported by Religious Intelligence. He continued, “In Iraq, Christians have suffered extreme deprivation, sometimes due to sheer religious hatred, sometimes just caught in the cross-fire, sometimes because, amazingly and quite wrongly, they are regarded as representatives of a western faith.
Romance rumor leads to torching of Christian
Muslim charged with setting fire to man, murdering father

An Egyptian Muslim is charged with setting fire to a 25-year-old Christian, murdering the victim's father and wounding his younger brother over a rumor about a romance between the young Christian and the Muslim man's sister. The events took place in the village of Dmas Meet-Ghamr after a rumor spread of a relationship between the 25-year-old Copt, Shehata Sabri, and the sister of a Muslim man named Yasser Ahmed Qasim. Qasim allegedly poured gasoline over Sabri and set him on fire as bystanders looked on in horror. The young Copt threw himself into the adjacent canal to try to put out the flames. The fire left burns all over his body, leading to his death. After the attack, the Coptic community rallied in the village. When Sabri Shehata, the father of the victim, arrived, he, too, was attacked by a group of Muslims who stabbed him with knives and daggers; one stab penetrated his back and came out of his abdomen below the rib cage, resulting in his death. Rami Sabri Shehata, the 22-year-old brother of the burning victim, was also beaten and sustained serious injury to the head.
Policy discriminating against Bible clubs challenged
Supreme Court asked whether Equal Access Act can be 'circumvented'

The U.S. Supreme Court is being asked to decide whether school officials at Kentridge High School near Seattle can circumvent the requirements of the Equal Access Act by denying religious student groups the rights afforded other organizations. The appeal has been submitted by the Alliance Defense Fund in a case that began in 2001 when school officials refused to grant recognition to the Truth Bible Club, because the club proposed that members must share a belief in the Bible. "Christian student groups shouldn't be penalized for their beliefs," said Nate Kellum, a senior counsel for the ADF. "Excluding a club simply because its members are religious is a clear violation of their First Amendment rights and the Equal Access Act. "For close to a decade, school officials have stonewalled this group that only wants to have the same benefits and privileges as any other student-led group. We hope that the U.S. Supreme Court will bring an end to this discrimination once and for all," he said. The members of the Truth Bible Club wish to limit the club's voting membership to Christians, but because of the faith-based decision, Kentridge officials repeatedly have rejected the application, citing the school's "nondiscrimination" policy. Officials also said the name of the club is "offensive."
'No One Can Fathom a Motive': Pastor Shot During Service
Man Approached Pulpit and Fatally Shot Pastor; Stabbed Self and Parishioners
By KATIE ESCHERICH
March 8, 2009
Police are still searching for a motive in a shooting during a morning church service outside St. Louis that left one person dead — the church's pastor — and several others wounded. The Rev. Fred Winters was at the pulpit at the First Baptist Church in Maryville, Ill., at 8:15 a.m. local time when a man wearing dark clothing approached the pulpit, exchanged words with the pastor and then fired four shots, Illinois State Police Director Larry Trent said at a news conference late today. "It was something spoken, but the people closest to them at the time couldn't say what that was," Trent said. "The pastor may have recognized him … but we're not sure about that at all." The first shot hit the pastor's Bible. "It hit the very top of the Bible and exploded on top of the Bible and turned into what many thought was confetti," Trent said. "In fact, some thought it was some type of skit or some type of program at the time." One of the shots from the gunman's .45 caliber pistol hit Winters in the chest, killing him, before his gun jammed, said Trooper Ralph Timmins of the Illinois State Police, which is handling the investigation. After his gun jammed, the shooter injured himself with a knife and subsequently was restrained by parishioners, Timmins said in a "preliminary release" left on his office voicemail recording. Approximately 150 people were in the church at the time, and Trent said video recordings of the service may provide clues as to what triggered the shooting.
Churches outraged at state's interference
Proposed law dictates how congregations must be governed

Following widespread outrage from Roman Catholics, Connecticut lawmakers have postponed a highly anticipated public hearing over a state law that would dictate how local parishes organize their governing structures. Critics blasted Connecticut Raised Bill No. 1098, "An Act Modifying Corporate Laws Relating to Certain Religious Corporations," as a blatant attack on constitutional freedom of religion. "The State has no right to interfere in the internal affairs and structure of the Catholic Church," writes Roman Catholic Diocese of Bridgeport Bishop William Lori on his blog. "This bill is directed only at the Catholic Church but could someday be forced on other denominations. The state has no business controlling religion."
