Trust in Yahweh
By Regina

The Definition of the Word Trust:
1. Reliance on the integrity, strength, ability, surety etc. of a person or thing; confidence
2. Confident expectation of something; hope.
3. A person on whom or thing in which one relies: God is my trust.

Job 15:31 Let him not put trust in worthless things, being led astray, for what he gets in exchange will prove worthless.
Psalm 31:14 But I trust in You, LORD; I say, "You are my God".

Psalm 37:5 Commit your way to the LORD: trust in Him, and He will act.

Psalm 40:4 How happy is the man who has put his trust in the LORD and has not turned to the proud or to those who run after lies!

Psalm 62:1 [Trust in God alone] I am at rest in God alone; my salvation comes from Him.

Psalm 146:3 Do not trust in nobles, in man, who cannot save.

Proverbs 20:6 Many a man proclaims his own loyalty, but who can find a trustworthy man?

Proverbs 28:26 The one who trusts in himself is a fool, but one who walks in wisdom will be safe.

Would you rather…. Trust Everyone….or Trust No one?

This question came up recently while playing a game with a group of friends and the answer was interesting. Half the group answered Trust in Everyone, while the other half answered Trust No one.

Now obviously, neither of the two options is necessarily healthy…or even realistic in this day and age of our world, but it did cause me to ponder the question quite a bit and I turned to The Word for increased understanding.

Over time, because I've learned the importance of guarding one's heart and trusting first and foremost in Yahweh, my answer to the question was Trust No one…and this is why:

In the same way that you shouldn't put your physical life at risk by trusting any stranger on the street, neither should you put your spiritual life at risk either. I think that Psalm 40:4 resonates strongly here because it speaks of those who turn to the proud and chase after lies. To help put this into perspective in regards to today's day and age – look at the millions who have placed their trust and hopes in our president and in preachers on TV, even talk show hosts who claim to have all the answers to today's problems and frustrations.

Trusting in Yahweh, our Creator, is not trusting in a person per se because Yahweh is our God. Yahweh is spirit. Yahweh is perfect…while mankind is so very far from both god and perfection.

To place all your trust in Yahweh is to have hope. It is to have confidence in Her integrity. You simply cannot have this in mankind, because of the gene of sin we all carry.

Even when I minister, I encourage those who question me not to take my word on it – but instead to pray, ponder, even do research on the things that I've shared. This is because while I am Yahweh and Christ's minister and the things I share are truth, it is our Creator who speaks to the heart and reveals all knowledge and understanding. It is by the power of the Holy Spirit that all things are revealed – not by man or woman.

1 Thessalonians 1:5 For our gospel did not come to you in word only, but also in power, in the Holy Spirit, and with much assurance.

Romans 15:13 Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

When I speak…when I write… I share with our extended flock that which Father Yahweh has shared with me. But, I do not ask that anyone place their trust in me because I am not worthy of their trust. Instead, I encourage all to place their trust in Yahweh whom I serve and where it rightly belongs. I have no power, no control. I cannot save. I am only a tool. A cog in the wheel of Father's family and a vessel that shares the outpouring of knowledge that has been shared with me both freely and with all who will listen. Place your trust not in me, or in any man or woman, but in Yahweh who saves.

Without God There Is Nothing
By Johanna

The other day I was driving by a church in the small town I live in. The first thing I noticed was the sign they had put up. The sign said "Without God there is nothing". While Light of Life Ministry isn't associated with any man-made religions as the Kingdom Message describes at the end of our newsletter because they teach half-truths and falsehoods. Most don't want to move away from the Elementary teachings either which in itself is very important but there is a time in all of our lives where we NEED to move past that in order to grow closer to our Heavenly Father.

Really think about the quote "Without God there is nothing" Is this quote true? Do you understand what it would be like if we didn't have Father in our lives? Take a look at the picture I choose for this article because that just about sums it up. If there was no God then there would be NOTHING. You would not have a life. There would be no animals for us to love and cherish. There would be no beautiful mountains for us to look at or anything else.

Father is the one who created everything. There are people out there who don't believe in Her at all but they don't stop to think about how it would be without Her. Matter of face and straight to the point there would be 0, nothing. You wouldn't be here to enjoy your life, your family and the interest you have. None of those things would BE without Father making it so.

I know that in one of our past issues there was an article about a Senator who choose to sue Father. When it comes to Father proving Her existence to us then what would be the point of having faith. It is all about having faith and an open heart. Without an open heart you won't see the things that are going on around you to be able to make the chose to follow in Christ footsteps. All you have to do is read our newsletter to see what is going on around us and to have a better understanding of Her. Why should Father prove that she is really there? That is one thing that She won't do until the time is right for Her to do so. By that time it may be too late for the people who don't believe in Her or say that they do but they won't be played with as a puppet with strings attached. If we were Father's play things then we definitely WOULD NOT have free will. Having free will is Father's way of giving us freedom to make our own choices.

How many of you love animals? What about the land and how beautiful some of it is that hasn't been touched by humans? What about your children or grandchildren? What if one day everything turned black and you weren't able to see any of that because they belong to Father? To me that is very scary. Father is everything to me. She has opened my heart to all kinds of new things included the correct way to behave and to love people.

Father loves us and will only give us so many chances before Her full wrath is upon us.

I pray with all my heart that the ones who want to sue Father for whatever reason, or isn't sure or just plain don't believe in Her open their hearts along with their eyes to see the TRUTH. AMEN.

Genesis 1:2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.

Release from a Snare

Psalm 140:5 — The proud hide a trap with ropes for me; they spread a net along the path and set snares for me. Selah

Proverbs 6:2 — you have been trapped by the words of your lips — ensnared by the words of your mouth.

Proverbs 11:6 — The righteousness of the upright rescues them, but the treacherous are trapped by their own desires.

Something that has been shown is how a trap that is set for another person can ensnare the one who set it. This happens in real life, and happens symbolically, just like the following:

Proverbs 30:18 — Three things are beyond me;
    four I can't understand:
the way of an eagle in the sky,
the way of a snake on a rock,
the way of a ship at sea,
and the way of a man with a young woman.

In this, the line between what is symbolic and what is literal can turn into something that ties together rather than divides. For example, the scriptures concerning the ark and how Noah and his family were kept safe in the ark is not only symbolic, but literal. Thus, just as there are different types of physical traps, there are also different spiritual traps that one can be laid victim to.

A snare that can be laid for another that one can also fall into can be any number of transgressions. One that may come to mind is arrogant pride, in that it can be like a deep pit that one has dug, but cannot get back out of. And then, that pit still exists, for which it can still cause many others to fall down into. That, in itself, poses an issue for creation, of which, one of the ways to seal off a pit is to fill it back up…and whether or not there is salvation for those that are caught in the pit depends on Father, who is able to save with Her own arm.

Isaiah 50:2 — Why was no one there when I came? Why was there no one to answer when I called? Is My hand too short to redeem? Or do I have no power to deliver? Look, I dry up the sea by My rebuke; I turn the rivers into a wilderness; their fish rot because of lack of water and die of thirst.

It should also be considered that a pit can be filled with all sorts of things, and that poses a great threat to any who fall into it, or any who would try to reach in it. However, Father is capable of any feat, and evil has no ability to harm Father.

James 1:13 — No one undergoing a trial should say, "I am being tempted by God." For God is not tempted by evil, and He Himself doesn't tempt anyone.

At the same time, a person who is caught in a rope snare that strings them up by their feet is then left vulnerable for a short time and find themselves at the mercy of their trappers, or simply without being able to move forward on Father's path. There are also stumbling blocks, spike traps, and probably an assortment of cages, nets, and traps meant to strangle one's neck that might not be easily be escaped.

Now, when one has caught themselves in a snare, it is very important to consider all the signs that one has found themselves in one. A snare might mean that all of the sudden there might not be as much light as there usually is. Being trapped might also cause asphyxiation that cannot be seen. A lack of movement, and perhaps even an amount of pain involved. All of these things must be taken into consideration as a sign, because being in a snare is a deadly and perhaps fatal situation.

As with normal traps, one of the first things to keep in mind is not to panic. Panicking induces fear, and fear allows oneself to be controlled by evil and even taken advantage of. Wrongful fear is also against Father's Way, and will only cause one to even further go off of Father's Path. Now, some traps, such as a rope snare, can be cut with Father's sword of Her Spirit, as given below:

Ephesians 6:17 — Take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is God's word.

Yet, other traps, such as a pit, cannot be so easily dug out of or climbed out of, as a sword or shield aren't provided for climbing. A sword might help, a shield might be able to be utilized, but their purpose is for what Father had provided them for. This requires Father's own help. And in order for Father to reach and offer Her hand to help, one must be willing to accept the help from Father, with humility and love.

Proverbs 1:24 — Since I called out and you refused, extended my hand and no one paid attention,

This might be partially why Father hates arrogant pride. If one can imagine what it is like for a person who offers help that is refused even though it is needed, then it might be more easily understood why arrogant pride is a horrible thing, amongst the other evils it is tied to.

Once a trap is removed, the victim of the trap might also need some time to take a breath or recuperate, because a trap that creates a wound will impair the warrior. It should be further considered, in this, not to be wrongfully angry, or to punish oneself for having fallen into a snare. Doing so would only hinder a healing process.

One further consideration for now, as any study can continue onwards even after studying something to an extent that one is able at that moment, is that a person may also be entangled in multiple snares, and also caught up in thorns and brush. It is perhaps something of a horror to see an individual trapped by their neck, legs and arms, in a dark pit, surrounded by vipers and poisonous creatures, with an iron cage built over the pit to keep them there, and yet, also still alive to be in the pain of that situation. Yet, even amongst that, Father is able to save.

Amongst knowledge of this, it would be a good idea to keep in mind that one might find themselves in such a situation, and to be ready at any time for Father's help, both in one's heart, and in prayer.

1 Thessalonians 5:17 — Pray constantly.

Traps are even being tightened, and perhaps being increased in number as the Rapture's time draws closer. Though, there is still hope even in the middle of a field of traps.

Nourishment From The Throne
“For the LORD gives wisdom. From His mouth come knowledge and understanding.” Proverbs 2:6

Cherubic Commander: "Terror, pit, and snare [await] you who dwell on the earth. "

This is the declaration to those that remain behind and do not receive salvation to be raptured to safety.

"He will twist its surface and scatter its inhabitants." This happens with tornadoes, hurricanes and earthquakes to name only a few of natures arsenal being used. Much more is on the horizon. Prepare for the coming rapture.

[Yahweh's Spirit – Searcher and Revealer]

1 Corinthians 2:1-16 Paul's Proclamation. When I came to you, brothers, announcing the testimony of God to you, I did not come with brilliance of speech or wisdom. For I determined to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified. And I was with you in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling. My speech and my proclamation were not with persuasive words of wisdom, but with a demonstration of the Spirit and power, so that your faith might not be based on men's wisdom but on God's power. Spiritual Wisdom. However, among the mature we do speak a wisdom, but not a wisdom of this age, or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. On the contrary, we speak God's hidden wisdom in a mystery, which God predestined before the ages for our glory. None of the rulers of this age knew it, for if they had known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. But as it is written: What no eye has seen and no ear has heard, and what has never come into a man's heart, is what God has prepared for those who love Him. Now God has revealed them to us by the Spirit, for the Spirit searches everything, even the deep things of God. For who among men knows the concerns of a man except the spirit of the man that is in him? In the same way, no one knows the concerns of God except the Spirit of God. Now we have not received the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, in order to know what has been freely given to us by God. We also speak these things, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual things to spiritual people. But the natural man does not welcome what comes from God's Spirit, because it is foolishness to him; he is not able to know it since it is evaluated spiritually. The spiritual person, however, can evaluate everything, yet he himself cannot be evaluated by anyone. For: who has known the Lord's mind, that he may instruct Him? But we have the mind of Christ."

As with all things in Father's realm of thinking, where one thing symbolizes that of another and having many sides that result in more mysteries to be revealed that all tie into one single mystery of the multi-conglomerate. This is also true in the "mystery of the Messiah" as containing a multi-faceted mystery, for Father's wisdom is multi-faceted.

Ephesians 3:4 "By reading this you are able to understand my insight about the mystery of the Messiah."

Ephesians 3:10 "This is so that God's multi-faceted wisdom may now be made known through the church to the rulers and authorities in the heavens."

"Main Entry: mul•ti•fac•e•ted
Pronunciation: -ˈfa-sə-təd
Function: adjective
Date: 1870 : having many facets or aspects "

"facet >noun 1 one side of something many-sided, especially of a cut gem. 2 an aspect: different facets of the truth.

-DERIVATIVES faceted >adjective.

-ORIGIN French facette 'little face'."

"aspect >noun 1 a particular part or feature of a matter. 2 appearance or quality. 3 the side of a building facing a particular direction.
-DERIVATIVES aspectual >adjective.
-ORIGIN Latin aspectus, from aspicere 'look at'."

Ephesians 3:4 "By reading this you are able to understand my insight about the mystery of the Messiah."

So what is the mystery of the Messiah? Keep in mind that Father's wisdom is multi-faceted, and so is the mystery.

Ephesians 3:5,6 "This was not made known to people in other generations as it is now revealed to His holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit: the Gentiles are co-heirs, members of the same body, and partners of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel."

That part (the above) has been revealed, but to this generation another multi-faceted part of the mystery has been revealed to each of you that was not known even in the day of Paul's inspired writings. The mystery of the Messiah, being multi-faceted is part of yet another "part or feature" of Father's Divine Wisdom, that being that Christ's energy is split. This is reflected in the Word by passages that allude to the solving of the mystery by those who have insight.

Isaiah 48:21 "They did not thirst when He led them through the deserts; He made water flow for them from the rock; He split the rock, and water gushed out."

Christ symbolizes the rock of the church, the Chief cornerstone that brings forth the waters of eternal life to those found worthy. Blood, which symbolizes life, it flowed from the rock of salvation – that of Christ in payment for mankind's sins.

Matthew 27:51 "Suddenly, the curtain of the sanctuary was split in two from top to bottom; the earth quaked and the rocks were split."

Christ Jesus represents the sanctuary of deliverance from sin. From the "top" in Heaven he rules as the King Christ at Father's right hand. From the bottom of the heavens (the earth) he serves as a warrior for Father and the other half of the split sanctuary that represents Christ Jesus his other half.

Mark 15:38 "Then the curtain of the sanctuary was split in two from top to bottom."

When Michael died on the Cross of Salvation as Christ Jesus, the splitting of the "curtain of the sanctuary" symbolized the coming split of Christ and Michael into two separate energies. One at the "top" and one at the "bottom" to fulfill Father's will. One serving as Father's King, and the other serving as Father's Great Prince warrior and vindicator for Her Great Name's sake.

Luke 23:45 "because the sun's light failed. The curtain of the sanctuary was split down the middle."

In Father's symbolism, Her Only-begotten Son's light had been extinguished for three days starting with his sacrificial death on the Cross – in that Her son's light failed to shine on a now darkened world of Satan's making, thus the sanctuary was split down the middle with Christ having been put to death in symbol of the coming energy split that would occur after his ascent to Father.

Matthew 27:51 "Suddenly, the curtain of the sanctuary was split in two from top to bottom; the earth quaked and the rocks were split."

The "earth quaked" represents when the Great Worldwide Earthquake will occur. This will include the split energy of Michael leading the heavenly warriors of Yahweh into battle to destroy those that are not found worthy of entry into the Kingdom.

Daniel 10:21 "No one has the courage to support me against them except Michael, your prince. However, I will tell you what is recorded in the book of truth."

Michael, a warrior prince filled with courage to lead the assault on Satan's empire. In doing so, Christ Jesus, a Savior, will not shed blood, but his split energy will. In this way, Christ Jesus remains free from blood guilt and does not need to wash his robes to become free of shed blood. This falls upon Michael and his holy angelic forces that render the judgment in Father's Great Name.

Daniel 12:1 "At that time Michael the great prince who stands watch over your people will rise up. There will be a time of distress such as never has occurred since nations came into being until that time. But at that time all your people who are found written in the book will escape."

Michael's "rise up" represents his split energy coming into play against those that oppose Father and those that do not accept Her truth. Through the split energy's sacrifice representing Christ Jesus, Father will permit Her people's escape from the coming wrath that must be meted out under the assault led by Michael the Archangel.

Revelation 12:7 "[ The Dragon Thrown Out of Heaven ] Then war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon. The dragon and his angels also fought,"

Christ's split energy – Michael, along with his holy angelic warriors fought to cleanse the heavens for Christ's Kingdom Rule to come into power. This was in order that the sanctuary in Heaven might be made ready for those that are to be raptured to a cleansed Heaven free of Satan's presence.

Exodus 15:17 "You will bring them in and plant them on the mountain of Your possession; LORD, You have prepared the place for Your dwelling; Lord, Your hands have established the sanctuary."

Establishment of the sanctuary involved that of removing Satan and his own angelic followers from Heaven. Since then, the converts have also been expelled from Father's presence. Heaven is free from all opposers.

Jeremiah 17:12 "A throne of glory on high from the beginning is the place of our sanctuary,"

Christ Jesus resides in a throne of Glory next to the presence of Father. It is the place of sanctuary.

Lamentations 1:10 "The adversary has seized all her precious belongings. She has even seen the nations enter her sanctuary— those You had forbidden to enter Your assembly."

At one time, the converts enjoyed the "belongings" of free entry to Heaven to try and "seize" those souls that would listen to their empty arguments against Father's sovereignty. However, they were forbidden from entering Father's own assembly where the holy angelic forces congregate before Father on specific occasions.

Ezekiel 5:11 "Therefore, as I live"—[this is] the declaration of the Lord GOD —"I am going to cut [you] off and show [you] no pity, because you have defiled My sanctuary with all your detestable practices and abominations. Yes, I will not spare [you]."

Heaven being the home of the sanctuary, Father cast out the converts just as She cast out Satan and his demons.

Revelation 21:22 "I did not see a sanctuary in it, because the Lord God the Almighty and the Lamb are its sanctuary."

Father and Christ represent the sanctuary in Heaven. Where they reside in the "up" you will all be in their company at the close of this age.

Revelation 15:8 "Then the sanctuary was filled with smoke from God's glory and from His power, and no one could enter the sanctuary until the seven plagues of the seven angels were completed."

First, all things must be completed, then you will be raptured.

Ecclesiastes 3:1 "[ The Mystery of Time ] There is an occasion for everything, and a time for every activity under heaven:"

LOZ offensive has begun

The Lion's of Zion have launched the offensive in a prelude to Armageddon occurring in both realms. At present, the offensive involves the spirit realm only. The LOZ using their whirlwind crafts as well as individual troop incursions is battling Satan's forces to open a corridor for the extraction of Father's faithful servants.

It's now time that you understand another cloaked secret of the Word.

Proverbs 10:25 "When the whirlwind passes, the wicked are no more, but the righteous are secure forever.”

Does this Proverb make you think that a tornado is used to destroy the wicked? If so, then use your power of reasoning that Father has blessed each of you with.

Much is obscure in the Word. It is for a reason. It is done this way so that a revelation later occurs. Now we shall view the revelation.

What is really meant by "whirlwind" in execution of Father's will?

Deduce the answer:

"His chariots are like the whirlwind"

Are chariots angels? Are the chariots actually a whirlwind, or are they named that because they turn in a circular motion, and also, because they, like a tornadic wind, they can cause great damage?

Proverbs 1:27 "when terror strikes you like a storm and your calamity comes like a whirlwind, when trouble and stress overcome you."

The terror of Father is presently striking Satan's forces with whirlwind vessels that are bringing calamity to those resisting the opening of the corridor.

Isaiah 5:28 "Their arrows are sharpened, and all their bows strung. Their horses' hooves are like flint; their [chariot] wheels are like a whirlwind."

What was Isaiah describing? These are war vessels. They are equipped to do battle. Is battle necessary if Father is Almighty? Yes, because the Way of Father is a Way that requires specific actions for certain outcomes of doing Her Will.

2 Kings 2:1 "[ Elijah in the Whirlwind ] The time had come for the LORD to take Elijah up to heaven in a whirlwind. Elijah and Elisha were traveling from Gilgal,"

To unveil the truth of this statement, one must first understand that a tornado was not what Father used to extract Elijah. If not a tornado, then what was used?

2 Kings 2:11 "As they continued walking and talking, a chariot of fire with horses of fire suddenly appeared and separated the two of them. Then Elijah went up into heaven in the whirlwind."

What did he go up in the lower heavens in, a tornado, or a suitable vessel that provided him with life support for his human vessel?

Job 38:1"[ The LORD Speaks ] Then the LORD answered Job from the whirlwind. He said:" Father answered from a tornado, or from a vessel?

Ezekiel 1:4 "[ Vision of the LORD's Glory ] I looked and there was a whirlwind coming from the north, a great cloud with fire flashing back and forth and brilliant light all around it. In the center of the fire, there was a gleam like amber."

Christ said you will see him coming in the clouds upon his return to salvage his flock. Who comes in Father's glory to execute salvation upon the worthy?

Nahum 1:3 "The LORD is slow to anger but great in power; the LORD will never leave [the guilty] unpunished. His path is in the whirlwind and storm, and clouds are the dust beneath His feet."

Father's "path" – that being HER WAY – is in what? "the whirlwind" meaning Her vessels that are operated by Her faithful angelic army, and the "storm" represents what? The whirlwind brings forth the storm of destruction with it.

Isaiah 66:15 "Look, the LORD will come with fire — His chariots are like the whirlwind — to execute His anger with fury, and His rebuke with flames of fire."

Psalm 77:18 "The sound of Your thunder was in the whirlwind; lightning lit up the world. The earth shook and quaked."

""Look, the LORD will come with fire — His chariots are like the whirlwind" ARE LIKE – not tornadoes or hurricanes. Instead, they are likened to a devastating whirlwind."

2 Kings 2 Elijah in the Whirlwind
"1 The time had come for the LORD to take Elijah up to heaven in a whirlwind."

Where he was literally taken up to the lower heaven in the flesh, you each will be taken to Mount Zion in the spirit. Even so, spiritual vessels can be harmed, so a corridor for safe haven is presently being forged and will be held open until the Rapture is fully completed.

I said the offensive involves the spirit realm only, but meant that it is primarily being directed at Satan's spirit forces only. However, the ramifications of the offensive that started over 24 hours ago have been rocking parts of the earth. This is because the veil is slowly being lifted for the offensive to be carried over into the fleshly realm against Satan's earthly empire and the wicked that will soon be those left behind for total destruction.

Proverbs 10:25 "When the whirlwind passes, the wicked are no more, but the righteous are secure forever."

secure >adjective 1 certain to remain safe and unthreatened. 2 fixed or fastened so as not to give way, become loose, or be lost. 3 feeling free from fear or anxiety. 4 protected against attack, burglary, etc. 5 (of a place of detention) having provisions against the escape of inmates. >verb 1 protect against danger or threat. 2 fix or fasten securely. 3 succeed in obtaining. 4 seek to guarantee repayment of (a loan) by having a right to take possession of an asset in the event of non-payment.

-DERIVATIVES securable >adjective securely >adverb securement >noun secureness >noun.

-ORIGIN Latin securus, from cura 'care'.

Piece the jigsaw puzzle together:

Isaiah 66:15 "Look, the LORD will come with fire — His chariots are like the whirlwind — to execute His anger with fury, and His rebuke with flames of fire."

Zechariah 9:14 "Then the LORD will appear over them, and His arrow will fly like lightning. The Lord GOD will sound the trumpet and advance with the southern storms."

Matthew 24:31 "He will send out His angels with a loud trumpet, and they will gather His elect from the four winds, from one end of the sky to the other."

The prelude to attacking Satan's fleshly empire. First, the gathering must be completed after the four winds (the corridor) has been completed for the extraction from earth. The "four winds" also represent the entirety of the planet, meaning the gathering of all faithful from every corner of this doomed world.

Revelation 10:7 but in the days of the sound of the seventh angel, when he will blow his trumpet, then God's hidden plan will be completed, as He announced to His servants the prophets."

Hidden plan.

1 Corinthians 15:52 "in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we will be changed."

The death of your fleshly vessels to the rebirth in spirit vessels will be almost instantaneous.

"1 Thessalonians 4:16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the archangel's voice, and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first."

Christ Jesus will be on hand for the Rapture. Michael will remain here for the final act of vindication.

Daniel 12:1 "At that time Michael the great prince who stands watch over your people will rise up. There will be a time of distress such as never has occurred since nations came into being until that time. But at that time all your people who are found written in the book will escape."

Dutch UFO sighting gets media attention, video
Michael Cohen

A UFO sighting, along with accompanying footage, that took place in the Netherlands is making headlines in that country. Steve Van Der Velde could not believe his eyes when his girlfriend pointed at a strange point of light in the sky. The 32-year-old Steve took out his camera and started filming the UFO. The footage below was taken a fortnight ago from Steve’s living room in the Dutch town of Delfgauw. 'It was a red object moving with great speed in the vicinity of our apartment. It just floated for some time in the air’, commented Steve to the Dutch newspaper, ‘Algemeen Dagblad’. His girlfriend commented that she noticed the object at round 11:30pm. ‘The UFO was diamond shaped, not disc shaped’ continued Steve ‘I really doubt it was a Chinese lantern or a weather balloon’ he concluded.

In what could have been a scene from the film Independence Day, a luminous ring-shaped cloud could be seen hovering over the city of Moscow last week. The pale gold 'halo' could be seen above the Russian capital city's Western District on Wednesday, and was captured on film by stunned Muscovites. Meteorologists rejected any theories of the supernatural however, calling it an optical effect. A spokesman from the city's weather forecast said: 'Several fronts have been passing through Moscow recently, there was an intrusion of the Arctic air too, the sun was shining from the west – this is how the effect was produced.' He added: 'This is purely an optical effect, although it does look impressive. 'If you look closer, you can see sun rays coming through that cloud. Most likely, the sun was setting when the video was being made. 'If you observe clouds regularly, you may see many other astonishing things. Clouds of the same class may look absolutely different in different areas.' Some environmentalists blamed pollution for the cloud, but weather forecasters were quick to reject the idea: 'The phenomenon has nothing to do with industrial emissions,' said one. 'They could not produce such an effect against the background of the current weather conditions.

Bright light 2,000 feet over NY State Thruway morphs into triangle-shaped UFO
October 8, 2009
The Examiner

A woman and her daughter watched a bright light at 2,000 feet morph into a triangle-shaped UFO above the NY State Thruway, according to testimony from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness database. The incident occurred as the two passed mile marker 66 in the early morning hours while it was still dark. Milepost 66 is located between Exit 18 (New Paltz) and Exit 17 (Newburgh I-84) near the Modena Travel Plaza in Orange County. The woman stated that the distant star-like light became bigger and brighter "in a second" – enlarging from their point of view to the size of a basketball held at arm's length. They report that the object was "changing" as they watched it – and was "surrounded by a dark-greyish mist or smoke and within, the single white light became a group of lights that flashed in series around an oval shape."

Kentucky witnesses watch low flying UFO light up and disappear
October 2, 2009
The Examiner

The UFO Traffic Report for Friday, October 2, 2009, includes 9 selected sightings over 8 states, according to witness statements filed in the past 48 hours with the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) database. Please keep in mind that most UFO reports can be explained as something natural or manmade. If MUFON investigates and reports back on any of these cases, I will update this page. The following reports and their headlines are unedited and uninvestigated. KY, September 30, 2009 – UFO near intersection of US 23 and Industrial Parkway (near Wurtland, KY). MUFON Case # 19756. Two Kentucky witnesses "saw a bright object lighting up and then disappearing. The object appeared to hover on the right side of the road, near Mountain Enterprises, perhaps a few hundred feet in the air." The object lit up and disappeared several times. There was a white light on the underside, a "brilliant blue light on the upper side," and a "pinkish" light on the front side of the craft. The object eventually "shot over a hillside" and disappeared from view.

UFO tracks Iranian missiles
The Sun
Published: 06 Oct 2009

A UFO streaks through the sky in this astonishing video of the Iranians test firing a controversial missile. The mystery object zooms unseen through Iran's airspace — before splitting a cloud in two as the film focuses in on the soaring rocket. A UFO expert today described the unknown craft — which appears to be tracking the weapon — as "phenomenal". Iran launched two short-range missiles last Saturday — angering the West and Israel. A US report on Fox News revealed the UFO in footage of the second launch. The video shows the Shahab-3 rocket soaring into the sky. But after 38 seconds a nearby cloud is mysteriously torn in two by a flying object travelling at speed. Nick Pope, a respected former UFO analyst for the Ministry of Defence, examined the remarkable footage. He hinted that whatever ripped through the cloud was not man made.

USDA forecasts huge corn, soybean harvest, but farmers see little benefit as prices stay low
Star Tribune
by Michael J. Crumb
October 9, 2009

DES MOINES, Iowa – A record corn and soybean harvest will do little to help farmers already struggling with low prices and high production costs, a farm economist said Friday after the latest crop projections were released. The National Agricultural Statistics Service forecast is for the second-largest corn harvest on record and a new record for soybeans. Neither comes as a surprise because more acres were planted this year and earlier forecasts also predicted a strong crop, said Lance Honig, chief of the crops branch for the Washington-based NASS, a division of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Corn production is estimated at 13 billion bushels, up 8 percent from 2008. If that holds up, it will be the second-highest production behind 2007, when 13.04 billion bushels were harvest.

Microchip Implant to Link Your Health Records, Credit History, Social Security
by Jim Edwards
October 10, 2009

Novartis and Proteus Biomedical are not the only companies hoping to implant microchips into patients so that their pill-popping habits can be monitored. VeriChip of Delray Beach, Fl., has an even bolder idea: an implanted chip that links to an online database containing all your medical records, credit history and your social security ID. As this presentation to investors makes clear, the chip and its database could form the basis of a new national identity database lined to Social Security and The VeriMed Health Link homepage describes the chip: … a tiny, passive microchip (the nation’s first and only microchip cleared for patient identification by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration) and a secure, private online database that links you to your personal health record. Your Health Link is always with you and cannot be lost or stolen.

The missing: Each year, 275,000 Britons disappear
The Independent
by David Randall and Greg Walton
October 11, 2009

Odd place, Britain. Every day, 13 million CCTV cameras track our movements. We're PIN-numbered, databased, credit-rated, nannied, Neighbourhood Watched, Facebooked, emailed and GPS-ed. You wouldn't think any of us could slip away unnoticed. But we do, in ever-increasing quantities. An Independent on Sunday investigation has established that the numbers of Britons who disappear each year is now at record levels. Missing People, the charity that helps both the disappeared and those left behind, told us that 250,000 missing persons reports each year – more than 30,000 higher than any previous total – is "probably an underestimate"; others put the total nearer 275,000. This, the equivalent of the entire population of Plymouth being spirited away, means that, across the country, one person goes missing every two minutes. The vast majority are swiftly found, or return of their own volition, but many don't. Some disappear for decades, and sources, including some inside the police, say the number of people in Britain who have been missing from family, friends and usual haunts for more than a year is at least 16,000 and could be as many as 20,000.

Declining greenback is now the world's pain
Financial Post
by Paul Vieira
October 8, 2009

OTTAWA — The Canadian dollar climbed above the US95¢ level Thursday for the first time in over a year as weakness in the U.S. dollar intensified, prompting several central banks in Asia to intervene in an effort to cap the rise in their local currency. The loonie hit an intraday high of US95.19¢ before settling down to close at US95.04¢, an increase of US0.91¢. The currency has gained US2.5¢ in the past week and is now at its highest level since Sept. 29 of last year, just before markets began to crumble amid the financial crisis. Analysts have suggested parity with the U.S. dollar is a possibility before the end of 2009. The Bank of Canada has repeatedly warned of the impact of a higher dollar, and senior deputy governor Paul Jenkins did so again during a speech Wednesday in Vancouver in which he warned the currency's "persistent" strength threatened economic growth. But analysts say the impact of the central bank's verbal interventions are beginning to wane.

Nasa team scours Moon crash data
by Paul Rincon
October 9, 2009

Nasa scientists have been outlining their preliminary results after crashing two unmanned spacecraft into the Moon in a bid to detect water-ice. A rocket stage slammed into the Moon's south pole at 1231 BST (0731 EDT). Another craft followed just behind, looking for signs of water in debris kicked up by the first collision. Instruments on the second spacecraft identified a flash from the initial impact as well as a crater, but the expected debris cloud was not evident. The $79m (£49m; 53m euro) US space agency mission is known as LCROSS (the Lunar Crater Observation and Sensing Satellite). The first collision was expected to throw some 350 tonnes of debris up to altitudes of 10km (6.2 miles) or more.

Perversion 101: Kids taught 'gay' sex, rape, bestiality
World Net Daily

October 5, 2009

A father of a high-school student is infuriated after he said a teacher provided "banned books" to her 11th-grade students, including at least one with explicit descriptions of homosexual sex acts, rape, masturbation, profane language and even bestiality. John Davis, father of an 11th-grade student at William Byrd High School in Vinton, Va., told WND that English teacher Kathleen Renard provided her personal copy of a book called "Perks of Being a Wallflower" by Stephen Chbosky to one of her English students, and it was passed to his son. The book is published by MTV Books. Davis found the book in his son's possession, along with a bookmark that said, "Read banned books. They're your ticket to freedom." "My son was reading the book and stated it was a school assignment," Davis told WND. "He was embarrassed that I began to peruse through the book and discovered its contents. He advised that the book belongs to his English teacher, Mrs. Kathleen Renard."

European Farmers’ Anger Spills Into the Streets of Brussels
New York Times
by Stephen Castle
October 5, 2009

BRUSSELS — After months of complaints by European dairy farmers angry over low prices, protesters in Brussels on Monday poured milk onto the streets, hurled eggs and other missiles, and started fires that filled the air with black smoke. Police helicopters hovered overhead as hundreds of tractors — and some cattle — blockaded the area outside the European Union’s headquarters while agriculture ministers met in an emergency meeting. The gathering of ministers, convened after pressure from France, failed to produce any breakthroughs apart from a decision to set up a committee to report on the dairy industry in June. Monday’s protest was the latest by farmers who dumped around three million liters of milk on fields in Belgium last month. “There’s a very serious crisis in the milk sector,” said the Swedish agriculture minister, Eskil Erlandsson, who headed Monday’s discussion. “We didn’t take any decisions today, but we identified areas where the future policy needs to concentrate on.”

Jobsworth ambulance boss refuses to let crew treat man with broken back 'because he was lying in six inches of water'
Daily Mail
October 8, 2009

A jobsworth ambulance boss refused to allow his staff to enter six inches of water to treat a man with a broken back – because it breached heath and safety. Stricken Brian Bendle, 45, suffered the agonising injuries as he stood in shallow water at a leisure lake in Somerset. He was waiting to take his £10,000 jetski out onto the water when he was hit by another rider travelling at around 50mph. Shocked onlookers immediately ran into the lake as Mr Bendle, from Bristol, lay face down in the water.

Dominican rape victims keep mum, fear husbands will leave them
October 6, 2009

Over two dozen victims of a serial rapist arrested in this northern Dominican city are refusing to file complaints against him as they are afraid their husbands will leave them if they learn they were raped, police said. Police turned over to the courts a man arrested Sunday in connection with 34 rapes in Santiago between June and September. Regional police spokesman Col. Jesus Cordero Paredes told the media that Carlos Miguel Henry Patina Santana, 30, pretended to be a taxi driver so that he could get the victims to get into his car. Once they were inside the vehicle, he drove them to isolated spots where he abused them sexually after threatening them with a knife. He took off the underclothes and other clothing of many of them and beat them with a belt. 'That guy was the same one who raped me when I got into his car as a passenger on a street in Santiago, and later he abused me as he wanted. He took off a belt holding up his pants and beat me,' one of the women, who refused to be identified, told EFE.

Suicide car bomb kills 49, wounds 100 in Pakistan
USA Today
October 9, 2009

PESHAWAR, Pakistan (AP) — A suicide bomber blew up his vehicle near a crowded market in northwestern Pakistan on Friday, killing 49 people and pushing the country closer to an offensive against militants in their main stronghold along the Afghan border. The attack, which wounded more than 100 people in Peshawar, was Pakistan's deadliest in six months and was a reminder of the ability of insurgents to strike in major cities despite operations against them and the death of their leader in a U.S. missile strike. The blast was heard several miles away and left the charred skeleton of a bus flipped on its side in the middle of the road, next to the twisted remains of a motorbike. Passersby pulled out the wounded and the dead, including a young girl wearing an orange dress who was heading to a wedding with family members. One man staggered from the scene, his face covered with blood. People rushed to cover the bodies of victims whose clothes were burned off. "I understood for the first time in my life what doomsday would look like, " said Noor Alam, who suffered wounds to his legs and face and was at a hospital overrun with other casualties.

Indian Floods Death Toll Reaches 200
By Anjana Pasricha
New Delhi
05 October 2009

More than 220 people have been killed and more than 1.5 million others have been displaced by massive floods which have devastated parts of Southern India in the past five days. Days of torrential rains eased Monday in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh states, but not before they had submerged hundreds of villages, caused widespread havoc. Authorities are coping with the worst flooding in decades in this southern region. With roads swept away, helicopters and boats have been deployed to rescue people stranded on roof tops or marooned in their homes. The army and air force joined the rescue effort. But there are fears that many people may still be stranded in villages which have not yet been accessed. Authorities have established hundreds of relief camps to house the displaced people. Medical teams are trying to prevent the spread of water-borne diseases. Food packets and water is being dropped in remote areas. The flooding has hit a region which, until days ago, was coping with one of the worst droughts in recent times.

Russian volcano's eruptions intensifying
Oct. 5, 2009

PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY, Russia, Oct. 5 (UPI) — The Klyuchevskoy volcano on Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula is showing signs of coming to life, throwing out red-hot rocks, seismologists say. At 15,584 feet, the volcano, located 220 miles north of the city Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky in Russia's Far East, is Eurasia's tallest active volcano and erupts about once every two years, RIA Novosti reported Monday. "At present, the Klyuchevskoy spews out magma to a height of (330 feet) with 1- to 6-minute intervals," Alexei Ozerov of the Far Eastern Institute of Volcanology and Seismology told the Russian news service. "This eruption, (which started on Oct. 3), unlike many others, started slow, but its intensity is rapidly growing." While only tourists who venture too close to the volcano are threatened at this point, Ozerov said that if the eruptions continue to build, high altitude ash emissions may affect air travel in the region.

Could Food Shortages Bring Down Civilization
by Staff Writers
Daily Seed
Washington DC (SPX) Oct 08, 2009

"In early 2008, Saudi Arabia announced that, after being self-sufficient in wheat for over 20 years, the non-replenishable aquifer it had been pumping for irrigation was largely depleted," writes Lester R. Brown in his new book, Plan B 4.0: Mobilizing to Save Civilization (W.W. Norton and Company). "In response, officials said they would reduce their wheat harvest by one eighth each year until production would cease entirely in 2016. The Saudis then plan to use their oil wealth to import virtually all the grain consumed by their Canada-sized population of nearly 30 million people," notes Brown, President and Founder of the Earth Policy Institute, a Washington, D.C.-based independent environmental research organization. "The Saudis are unique in being so wholly dependent on irrigation," says Brown in Plan B 4.0. But other, far larger, grain producers such as India and China are facing irrigation water losses and could face grain production declines. A World Bank study of India's water balance notes that 15 percent of its grain harvest is produced by overpumping. In human terms, 175 million Indians are being fed with grain produced from wells that will be going dry. The comparable number for China is 130 million. Among the many other countries facing harvest reductions from groundwater depletion are Pakistan, Iran, and Yemen.

35 quakes rock Mayon anew
By Rey M. Nasol
Inquirer Southern Luzon

LEGAZPI CITY, Philippines—At least 35 volcanic earthquakes
jolted Mayon Volcano on Thursday and Friday, the highest recorded seismic event since July when the volcano started showing signs of restiveness, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported Friday. The surge in the number of volcanic tremors started in the Wednesday, with 14 tremors recorded during the Wednesday-to-Thursday monitoring period. Only one tremor was recorded in the previous 24-hour period from 6 a.m. Tuesday to 6 a.m. Wednesday. Eduardo Laguerta, Phivolcs resident volcanologist, said the agency's seismic network recorded a total of 82 earthquakes since Sept. 27. Scientists monitoring the volcano still do not discount the possibility of an explosive eruption because of the fluctuating indicators, such as quakes, ground swelling, gas emissions and crater glow. Phivolcs' Friday advisory said high- and low-frequency harmonic tremors were detected by seismic instruments, signifying that magma intrusion was developing in the volcano's crater vent. Sulfur dioxide emissions from the volcano indicated a fluctuating trend, ranging from 392 tons per day to 445 tons per day for the past three days.

India drought 'worst since 1972'
By Chris Morris
BBC News, Delhi
30 September 2009

India suffered its weakest monsoon for nearly 40 years, the country's meteorological department says. Rainfall nationwide is 23% below average at the end of the monsoon season, making it the worst drought since 1972, officials said. India is the world's second biggest producer of rice, wheat and sugar and millions of farmers in rural India rely on the monsoon to grow their crops. Officials admit the weak monsoon will have a negative impact on the economy. The four-month monsoon season officially ended on Wednesday. There are regional differences – the north-west had the worst rainfall deficit at 36% while the southern part of the country was just 7% below average. And things could have been worse – rains returned to many parts of the country in August after an extremely dry period in June.

INDONESIA – Mudslides triggered by last week's Indonesian earthquake have wiped out an entire valley of villages on the island of Sumatra, a discovery that is shifting attention away from the destruction found earlier in the regional capital of Padang. As rescuers on Sunday were winding down their efforts in Padang, aid was only just beginning to reach this lush valley surrounded by volcanoes some two hours' drive from the city. Lubuk Laweh and two neighboring villages, complete with mosques and a school, used to cover volcano slopes that rise from a raging river at the bottom of the valley. When the 7.6-magnitude earthquake struck Sumatra Wednesday, entire hills came crashing down. The tremors dragged almost all the houses — and their inhabitants — into a giant mud flat that is now strewn with uprooted trees, broken toys and soaked photographs. Indonesian officials say more than 200 villagers, and at least several dozen outsiders at a wedding, are still buried under the mud in the valley. The official toll from the Sumatra quake is 688 dead and 343 missing, although that number has fluctuated in recent days as rescuers access more areas. The casualty number isn't likely to rise dramatically, however, because helicopter surveys have found no other major landslides. Wednesday's 7.6-magnitude temblor which hit the bustling West Sumatran coastal city of Padang, was predictable. Only two years ago, international scientists were warning that Padang was especially vulnerable because previous ruptures had imposed severe strains on the Mentawai section of the undersea fault line as it passes west of the city. The length of Sumatra is 1,700km. The 2004 earthquake broke 1,200km of fault line. A second tremor near the island of Nias the following year tore up an additional 400km to 500km. Two years later came an 8.2 quake in Bengkulu, which left a 300km long rift. That all added up to a rupture extending from six degrees south off the South Sumatra coast to 12 degrees to 14 degrees north in the Andaman Sea, with the middle 100km to 200km Mentawai section [Padang] remaining precariously intact. The United States Geological Survey has recorded at least 22 quakes measuring magnitude 5.5 or more along the Sumatran fault since the beginning of this year, including two of magnitudes 6.6 and 5.9 which rippled through the Mentawai section five hours apart on Aug 18. Both epicentres were in virtually the same place, 110km west-south-west of Padang at a depth of 46km and 35km respectively. An Indonesian scientist warned that the twin events suggested something ominous was brewing. There were three other quakes in the same area before the end of August, then a period of relative calm until Wednesday's tremor which occurred about 225km to the south-west of Padang. The only thing Indonesian experts got wrong was their prediction that the impending quake would be of a magnitude of 8.5 to 8.9. In a worst case scenario, they said, a 5.5m tidal wave would penetrate 2km into Padang, destroying half the city. That never happened, possibly because the quake occurred at a depth of 85km. But in terms of damage and lives lost, it is still the most devastating event since the Jogjakarta tremor which killed 5,000 people in 2006. Other stretches of the fault line have been active as well. Early last month, a 7.4-magnitude quake occurred 40km off the south coast of West Java, killing 100 people and causing extensive damage. Further to the east, about 30 significant tremors have been felt in the Nusa Tenggara chain and along the north coast of Papua in the past nine months. By far the most active area this year has been off the north coast of Sulawesi, which has experienced 28 quakes of magnitude 5.5-plus so far this year, all in the region where the Molucca Sea, Banda Sea and Sunda tectonic plates converge. Pressure on the fault means a vastly larger 8.8-magnitude quake, coupled with a five metre high wall of water, is a virtual certainty in the coming decades. "This earthquake today is a flea compared to this tiger of a quake that is coming. It's 100% likely. The question is when is the date. The strain has been building off Padang for this 8.8 for 175 years." Experts have called on the government to invest in quake-resistant buildings and widen Padang's roads – predicting an exodus of about 500,000 people in the event of a major quake. But little has been done. The Indonesian Red Crescent society said the government had enough funds to make significant improvements to Padang's infrastructure, but money had been lost through corruption.

INDONESIA – Heavy rain threatened to trigger more landslides and hamper delivery of desperately needed aid Monday on the Indonesian island of Sumatra, where thousands of people were buried by last week's powerful earthquake. The Meteorological and Geophysics Agency warned that remote areas could see strong winds and storms for the next two days, worsening the plight for those made homeless and creating dangerous conditions on roads already blocked by mud and felled trees. "People who live around the hills should remain alert for potential landslides, due to the high intensity of rain." Relief crews were confined to the regional capital of Padang because of bad weather. Many outlying areas with extensive damage still have not received help. Power remained cut off, and roads to villages were blocked by landslides, preventing foreign aid from getting through. It was unclear precisely how many people were without shelter Monday, but more than 83,000 houses were destroyed or badly damaged in 10 affected districts. Some 285 schools were destroyed and 100,000 buildings and 20 miles (31 kilometers) of road were badly damaged. Five bridges collapsed. Teams were scrambling to clear roads of dirt, boulders and trees. Several villages were only reachable by foot, although some heavy equipment was on the way.

The bottom line – Two deadly earthquakes rocked Indonesia within 17 hours of one another last week, and another large earthquake spawned a tsunami that swallowed parts of the islands of Samoa, American Samoa and Tonga. The tsunami was so powerful it twisted concrete beams. The initial Indonesian quake caused significant damage to buildings and houses. Insured commercial losses from the two Indonesian quakes are unknown at this time, but those losses are expected to be low because it's likely not much of the property is insured. AIR estimated insured losses from the quakes would be not be “significant” because there is a low penetration rate of earthquake insurance. “It is a humanitarian catastrophe, but in terms of insured losses, we do not expect it to be a big event,” said a spokesman for Munich Reinsurance Co.

PHILIPPINES – A 6.6-magnitude earthquake struck off the Philippines yesterday, but at 630km below the seabed it was considered extremely deep and no destructive tsunami was expected.

More aftershocks are expected in coming days after a series of powerful earthquakes triggered a tsunami alert for much of the South Pacific, including Australia's northeast coast. The latest tremors caused panic on many of the region's remote islands just days after 184 people were killed when giant waves, whipped up by another earthquake, smashed into Samoa and neighbouring islands. A tsunami warning [which has since been cancelled] was issued for some 25 countries and territories stretching as far as Australia, New Zealand and Indonesia.
The first of three earthquakes struck about 500 km northwest of Vanuatu at 9.03am, prompting thousands of people on remote islands to flee to higher ground. The large "potentially tsunamigenic" magnitude 7.9 earthquake occurred at a shallow depth of 38 km below the seabed and was followed by a series of strong aftershocks. The two largest aftershocks were recorded at magnitudes of 7.4 and 6.8, occurring at 9.19am and 10.13am respectively. However, the quakes produced only a small tsunami, with waves of just three to 10 centimetres recorded. Experts said serious damage was unlikely as the closest areas of significant population were outside the range of impact. "Following this size earthquake we would expect to see a number of aftershocks in the coming days, and possibly weeks, gradually reducing in size and frequency." The Vanuatu Tourism Office said there was some minor structural damage on the island of Espiritu Santo but no reports of fatalities or injuries. The latest earthquakes follow those that impacted on the Samoa region and Indonesia last week. A 7.6-magnitude quake off the western coast of Sumatra killed more than 1000 people and left half a million homeless. It is REMARKABLE to have so many large earthquakes over such a short space of time, but scientists say that while they were related as part of the Earth's ongoing dynamic processes, there was no direct connection. "This earthquake occurred where the Australian plate slides beneath the Pacific Plate and releases stress which builds up due to this process. Earthquakes will continue to occur at the boundaries of the Australian Plate as it pushes slowly northeast at approximately seven centimetres per year, resulting in collisions with the Pacific, Eurasian and Philippine plates."

Undersea earthquakes caused panic in the South Pacific on Thursday, sending islanders fleeing to higher ground on fears of a second devastating tsunami in as many weeks, but a series of waves proved to be tiny and harmless. The Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre cancelled its warning after three tsunamis, measuring up to 10 cm, were recorded in Vanuatu. Some villagers in outlying islands in the Solomons reported tidal changes. Moments before the morning quakes of 7.8 & 7.3 magnitude, a magnitude 6.7 tremor struck southeast of the Sulu archipelago of the Philippines, which is still mopping up from the typhoon that killed at least 22 people. The series of large quakes in the region is UNUSUAL and aftershocks could be expected for a few weeks. "We only get about a dozen earthquakes of that magnitude or larger around the globe in a year, so it is VERY UNUSUAL. There will be a lot of questions to ask as to whether there is any relationship betweeen these earthquakes." The Australian Plate, which caused the Sumatran and Vanuatu quakes, is the world's fastest moving tectonic plate and is creating great stresses. The Australian Plate is moving north/northeast, shoving over the Pacific Plate at 91 mm a year. The Sumatran quake was caused by a fault near the interface of the Australian Plate and Southeast Asia's Sunda Plate. "All these earthquakes are related to the fact that we live on a very dynamic and fast moving plate. Until now we would have thought quakes in Samoa and Sumatra and Vanuatu are too far apart to be caused in any other way than by mere coincidence. But it is certainly alarming that we have so many in such a short period of time."

INDONESIA is considering declaring four villages mass graves after they were buried by landslides in last week's earthquake.

Not the Big One – Scientists who examined last week's devastating earthquake in West Sumatra have come to an alarming conclusion: it was not ''the big one'' they have long been forecasting for Padang. The region will likely feel the brunt of a powerful earthquake in coming years that will dwarf the ferocity of last week's quake and could be accompanied by a large tsunami, according to a top Indonesian seismologist. Moreover, last week's quake has done little, if anything, to relieve the immense pressure building kilometres below the surface as the Indo-Australian and Eurasian tectonic plates grind against each other. There were big quakes in 2004 and 2007. ''That series of events left a gap in West Sumatra. It seems that this [250-kilometre-long] segment has not been broken.'' Last week's quake happened more than 100 kilometres from the collision zone, at a depth of 70 kilometres, and it was caused by a north-south movement in the earth's crust, rather than shallower, east-west movement caused by the two tectonic plates hitting each other. It is inevitable in coming decades that it will be broken, perhaps in the near future given the events along the collision zone. ''What we don't know is whether it will all break at once or whether there will be several smaller events.'' Seismologists say a one-off slippage of the Indo-Australian plate will cause an earthquake in West Sumatra with a magnitude of 8.8. That would produce a wall of water five metres high that would hit West Sumatra's coast.

PHILIPPINES – At least 35 volcanic earthquakes jolted Mayon Volcano on Thursday and Friday, the highest recorded seismic event since July when the volcano started showing signs of restiveness. The seismic network has recorded a total of 82 earthquakes since Sept. 27. Scientists monitoring the volcano do not discount the possibility of an explosive eruption because of the fluctuating indicators, such as quakes, ground swelling, gas emissions and crater glow. Precise leveling result indicated a 6-mm swelling on the volcano’s ground surface, with bulging noted at the Buang, Tabaco City, side of the mountain. The volcano's crater glow was obscured by the prevailing bad weather in Albay. Alert level 2 remained hoisted over Mayon Volcano.

ALASKA – Geologists are on alert after the Cleveland Volcano spewed an ash plume up to 20,000 feet. The volcano on Alaska's Aleutians Islands erupted late Friday, prompting the observatory to raise the mountain's threat level to code orange. Satellite views showed the ash cloud drift northeast about 375 miles and disperse over the Bering Sea. Cleveland is about 940 miles southwest of Anchorage, on a remote and uninhabited island. The volcano's last significant eruption began in February 2001 and eventually produced a lava flow that reached the ocean. Ash emissions from Cleveland were most recently seen in June.

VANUATU – Communities on the Vanuatu island of Gaua are worried about the volcano in its centre. For the past fortnight Gaua volcano has shown signs of increased seismic activity, generating sulphurous gas and ash into the atmosphere and affecting water supplies. The volcano's alert level has now been set at one, nowhere near the highest (level five), but still a worry for the two thousand people who call the remote island home.

RUSSIA – The Klyuchevskoy volcano on Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula is showing signs of coming to life, throwing out red-hot rocks, seismologists say. The volcano, located 220 miles north of the city Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky in Russia's Far East, erupts about once every two years. "At present, the Klyuchevskoy spews out magma to a height of (330 feet) with 1- to 6-minute intervals. This eruption, (which started on Oct. 3), unlike many others, started slow, but its intensity is rapidly growing." While only tourists who venture too close to the volcano are threatened at this point, if the eruptions continue to build, high altitude ash emissions may affect air travel in the region.

MONTSERRAT – New ash spewed twice from the Montserrat volcano Monday morning, leaving parts of the island covered in dust. The volcano on the Caribbean island shot a plume of ash more than two miles (three kilometers) into the sky.

VANUATU – A volcano in Vanuatu is showing signs of increased activity. A team of volcanic experts have arrived at the Gaua volcano and are collecting data to determine whether it will erupt. The local population has not yet been advised to evacuate until the alert level reaches level three. It is currently at level one, however locals say they are experiencing increased ash fall and minor earth quakes.

Possible volcanic eruptions in Sumatra – Earthquakes and volcanic eruption go hand-in-hand in the Indonesian island of Sumatra, so it is wise to keep a close watch on the recurrance of quakes and following developments in the region, says a senior volcanologist. There are more than 200 volcano lines along the Sumatra fault running parallel to the subduction zone. During March 2007 earthquake, the Talang volcano showed increased volcanic activity throwing ash plumes. The current series of seismic activities are lined over the active Sumatra fault close to three active volcanoes — Marapi, Talang and Tandikat.

Worst Volcanoes Even More Dangerous Than Feared – Some of the world's most dangerous volcanoes can erupt much more quickly than scientists had suspected, according to a new study of the massive 2008 eruption of Chile's Chaitén volcano. Normally scientists can track the seismic rumblings that precede most volcanic eruptions for weeks or even months, as magma in the volcano slowly rises to the surface. But when townspeople at the base of the Chaitén volcano first felt earthquakes on April 30, 2008, they had only 30 hours to get out before the long-dormant volcano began to blow its top. Rhyolitic volcanoes are largely fueled by a silica-based, very flow-resistant magma and they tend to build pressure over time before erupting violently. Large rhyolitic volcanoes exist in the Yellowstone region of Wyoming, in Long Valley, California, and in Valles, New Mexico. The Japanese islands and New Zealands Taupo Volcanic Zone are also home to such volcanoes. Rhyolitic volcanoes erupt so infrequently that scientists hadn't had a chance to observe one until Chaitén. The eruptions may go 10,000 years between episodes. "The largest eruptions on the planet have been rhyolitic." Ongoing eruptions are continuing to rebuild Chaitén's dome.

VANUATU A seismologist says insufficient monitoring of the Gaua volcano is endangering the lives of the 600 people who live nearby. The usually quiet volcano located in the centre of the northern Vanuatu island has been active since late September and has been on alert level one, the lowest of five, since the 29th. The volcano is surrounded by Vanuatu’s largest lake and the risk of an eruption generating a lahar or mudflow is high.

SAMOA – Afte the series of immense waves crashed into unsuspecting parts of the South Pacific islands of Samoa and Tonga, scores of people died, prompting legions of expatriates to rush home to comfort the bereaved and to see for themselves the grisly outcome of nature's furious assault. At Saleapaga – on Samoa's sandy south coast – the tsunami tore over a sea wall that was meant to protect the road and a bustling coastal village, which was just starting its day when the wild waters came. The surges were so powerful they turned large boulders into torpedoes and crushed almost everything in their path. Not a single building has been left standing. Hundreds of villagers fled to higher ground when the deep sea earthquake just 190km (118 miles) to the south rattled the earth beneath their feet. Home is now a collection of ramshackle camps. Many are too scared to return to the ocean's edge, fearful of what a local priest described as the "monster" that lives in the sea. Huge physical and psychological challenges lie ahead and many islanders wonder if life can ever be the same again. Houses, roads and businesses will be rebuilt, but reviving the confidence of a coast-loving people is likely to be a lot harder. The ocean that has sustained them for so long is now considered in many quarters to be the enemy – one that is viewed with suspicion and fear. The confirmed death toll from the devastating tsunami that crashed into the Samoa islands and Tonga has risen to 170 with at least 10 more people unaccounted for.

SAMOA – Fears of deadly outbreaks of disease in tsunami-battered Samoa mounted today, as frightened survivors sheltering on higher ground refused to return to their beachfront villages.

BRITAIN – An investigation is under way after a FREAK six foot wave destroyed dock gates at Maryport marina on Saturday, causing thousands of pounds worth of damage. High winds are thought to have caused the wave surge that hit Maryport marina shortly after 11am. It is understood that the locking mechanism on the marina gates failed, causing them to fall to the sea bed leaving boats exposed. Maryport coastguard was called out to oversee the rescue operation after boats crashed into each other and one sank. At least 10 boats have been damaged, six of them severely. Police received reports that the dock gates had collapsed due to the high winds and a high tide. Gusts of up to 86mph were recorded at Great Dun Fell, in the Pennines east of Penrith. Lower-lying and coastal areas such as Carlisle and St Bees saw winds reach 60mph. Police also received reports of uprooted trees and broken branches blocking roads across the county. The Met Office issued a severe weather warning for the county and are predicting gale-force winds will return to Cumbria on Friday.

Supertyphoon Melor headed for Japan and is forecast to make landfall near Tokyo late Wednesday or early Oct. 8. To the east of the Philippines, Supertyphoon Melor weakened slightly overnight as it headed toward southwestern Japan. Melor’s winds slowed to 241 kph from 259 kph yesterday. The storm was centered 743 kilometers southeast of Naha in Okinawa at 3 a.m. Tokyo time and moving northwest at 30 kph. Navy forecasters expect Melor, the 20th storm of the northwest Pacific cyclone season, to turn northeast and reach Tokyo. The storm’s winds are forecast to weaken to 213 kph by 3 a.m. Wednesday.

Parma, which left 16 people dead and two missing when it crossed Luzon as a typhoon three days ago, is forecast to be almost stationary until 2 a.m. Oct. 8. The weather service raised the No. 3 storm signal for areas in northern Luzon, meaning winds of between 100 kph and 185 kph are expected. It also warned residents to take measures against flash floods and landslides.

As expected, Tropical Storm Grace is dying far out in the northeastern Atlantic Ocean. Grace raced across the northeastern Atlantic on Monday on a path toward the British Isles but was expected to weaken and be absorbed by a cold front off Ireland by this morning. A veteran forecaster at Weather Underground described the emergence of Grace as an ANOMALY, saying it was THE FARTHEST NORTHEAST AN ATLANTIC TROPICAL STORM HAD EVER FORMED SINCE SATELLITE OBSERVATIONS BEGAN IN THE 1960s. Far across the Atlantic Ocean southwest of Grace, a separate tropical wave headed for the eastern Caribbean, and the NHC gave that system a medium chance — 30 to 50 percent — of becoming a tropical cyclone during the next 48 hours. Some computer models saw it heading into the Caribbean sea south of Puerto Rico in the coming days. The 2009 Atlantic hurricane season has been quiet, producing only seven named storms so far, of which only two, Bill and Fred, turned into hurricanes, although neither seriously threatened populated areas or oil facilities.

PHILIPPINES authorities appealed for assistance after Tropical Depression Parma CROSSED LUZON FOR A THIRD TIME, bringing more flooding to the island, where more than 300 people have died in storms since late last month. Twenty-five people were killed and 39 are missing, while thousands are stranded as the water level on the Agno river near Baguio north of Manila reached critical levels, and was still rising. Landslides left more than 90 people dead. The storm passed over Luzon after making landfall in the northeast on Oct. 3 as a typhoon, bringing more rain to areas drenched by Tropical Storm Ketsana, which hit the island a week earlier. Widespread flooding from Ketsana left 337 people dead and destroyed thousands of homes, as well as wiping out roads and bridges. Thirty-seven people remain missing and about 287,000 are still in evacuation centers. Parma moved out over the South China Sea before turning a circle and crossing Luzon for a second time two days ago as a tropical storm.

Listless “Pepeng,” [Parma] downgraded from a typhoon to a tropical depression, had lingered off the eastern part of northern Luzon for the third straight day on Wednesday, threatening to make another pass over its provinces. The Director of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said he had NEVER SEEN A STORM ACT SO ERRATICALLY. “In my 26 years in PAGASA, I’ve never seen a storm like this, staying over land for so long." Thursday evening, Pepeng was expected to be 130 km east-southeast of Tuguegarao City and by Friday evening, 210 km northeast of Tuguegarao.

JAPAN – Japanese teams began clearing roads of debris and fixing bridges damaged by Typhoon Melor, which swept across Honshu yesterday, as a new storm developed over the Pacific to the south of Tokyo. As many as three people died after Melor, the first typhoon to make landfall in Japan since September 2007, crossed the coast near the city of Nagoya, bringing winds of 139 kilometers (86 miles) per hour and stranding millions of commuters and airline passengers. Almost 100 people were injured and more than 400 houses were either damaged or destroyed. Warnings and alerts for strong winds, rain and flooding remain in effect for parts of Honshu and Hokkaido to the north as Melor, now a tropical storm, moved further offshore.

To the south of Japan, Tropical Depression 21W formed overnight near the American territory of Guam, the U.S. Navy Joint Typhoon Warning Center said. The storm had winds of 56 kph and was moving north at 7 kph. The depression is forecast to strengthen to a tropical storm by 3 a.m. Tokyo time tomorrow and continue a northerly track. The center’s five-day forecast doesn’t indicate it will reach mainland Japan.

Tropical Storm Henri – While a tropical wave, forecasters thought it would weaken Tuesday night, but instead it suddenly intensified that afternoon to become Tropical Storm Henri, the hurricane season's eighth, located about 500 miles east of the Leeward Islands. Strong upper level windshear was expected to batter the storm system, keeping it from gaining much more strength. It weakened into a tropical depression by Wednesday afternoon, without threatening land. By Thursday, the storm system dissipated into a tropical low, several hundred miles southeast of the island chain.

ITALY – The number of people killed in mudslides caused by heavy rains in southern Italy will rise to 50. Rescuers are still searching for some 40 people still missing after the country's WORST MUDSLIDES FOR 10 YEARS. Some 250 mm (10 inches) of rain fell on north-eastern Sicily in just a few hours before dawn on Friday, sparking widespread floods. In places people did not have time to scramble out of their cars before they were struck by a wall of mud that swamped entire streets. Twenty-one deaths and 80 injuries have been confirmed since torrential rains caused the violent mudslides around the Sicilian city of Messina early Friday. The mudslides swept away cars, toppled buildings and blocked transport links. Although some 400 people have been evacuated from the area, continuing rainfall was hampering rescue efforts. With road and rail links cut, some survivors had to be taken out of the area by sea while others were rescued from their rooftops by helicopters. Analysts suggest deforestation and over-development had weakened the soil on the hills surrounding Messina, increasing the likelihood of mudslides in heavy rainfall. (photos)

INDIA – a large part of South India has gone under water. Over 300 people have already lost their lives while millions are displaced and missing in this global warming related freak weather event. South India is a region which was earlier know for prolonged periods of mild drought. Now, the droughts do come but are much more severe. And these extreme droughts are quickly followed by extreme flooding. The area under water today in the states of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh was suffering from drought less than a month ago. Whatever was left from that was washed away in the floods, adding to the misery of the dead/dying people. While the above mentioned two states are completely impacted by the floods, the states of Orissa, Maharashtra and Goa are also witnessing continuous rains which earlier caused the flooding in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. The floods have disrupted transportation and communication links and converted farmers into climate refugees who are now seeking shelter in crowded government-run relief camps out of their villages. Millions of areas of croplands have also been destroyed particularly the sugar plantations in the nation’s third-biggest sugar producing state of Karnataka.

CALIFORNIA – A fire driven by winds of 40 mph destroyed three homes and threatened dozens of others in a rugged warren of mountains and canyons northeast of San Bernardino on Saturday.

CALIFORNIA – Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger declared a state of emergency Sunday in San Bernardino County as a fast-moving wildfire burned through a national forest, threatening homes and forcing hundreds of evacuations.

FLORIDA – On Wednesday, Brevard County residents sweated out a RECORD-BREAKING DAY in which the temperature — this is fall, remember — hit 93 degrees. That breaks by two degrees the high mark of 91 degrees set in 1981. More steamy temperatures are in store through the week, with temperatures remaining in the low 90s and chances for showers and thunderstorms at only 20 percent through early next week. The temperature officially hit the record mark at 3 p.m. Fall officially began two weeks ago, and the dry season doesn't officially begin until Oct. 16

In Sarasota, an odd weather pattern is expected to generate RECORD-BREAKING HEAT this weekend, without the relief of afternoon showers. The weather, a mix of fall's dryness and summer's heat, marks the likely end of a wishy-washy wet season that produced unimpressive rainfall. Substantial rain fell in May and two weeks ago, but not enough to fill lakes and rivers that are now falling below normal. "This was probably about the third year in a row that we didn't get the summer rainfall that we would have liked to have had." And instead of the dry, cool weather characteristic of the dry season, the region will get heat — with highs of 90 and above, several degrees above average — humidity and very low chances for rain through the weekend and possibly through the beginning of next week, the National Weather Service predicts. During the typical rainy season, heat and humidity escalate in the afternoon, eventually culminating in widespread, near-daily downpours. The jet stream is farther north than usual, allowing high pressure to build in the upper atmosphere over Southwest Florida. The sinking air under high pressure acts as a cap, trapping in the heat and humidity and suppressing rain. Long-range forecasts still predict a rainy winter for Florida, due to a warmer-than-normal equatorial Pacific. Such a pattern could help ease the protracted drought that has left a cumulative rainfall deficit of nearly 29 inches over the past 41 months.

SYRIA urgently needs help to tackle the devastating effects of the WORST DROUGHT THE MIDDLE EAST HAS SEEN IN DECADES.

Sri Lanka's perspective on climate change – They are already experiencing UNUSUAL weather patterns, serious and prolonged droughts, UNUSUAL rainfall, frequent and severe cyclones and hurricanes.

CALIFORNIA – Southern California has gone from a heat wave to a cold streak, with several cities around the region reporting RECORD LOW TEMPERATURES.

MONTANA – Weather cold enough to freeze was coming to Northwest Montana last night, along with some snow. The National Weather Service is forecasting a "bitterly cold" front to settle in over the region. Temperatures were projected to drop steeply by midnight Thursday. "This system will produce a relatively quick shot of snow … followed by strong gusty northeast winds ushering a very cold air mass across the Continental Divide by Friday. RECORD-BREAKING COLD TEMPERATURES and low wind chills are possible over the weekend." Winds are expected to be 15 to 25 mph, with gusts up to 40 mph and wind-chill temperatures will be 10 below to zero after midnight tonight. The lowest wind-chill readings will be 5 below zero to 15 below on Friday night.

The Philippines, the world's biggest rice buyer, may import more of the grain to fill its needs for the first half of 2010 after two typhoons wreaked havoc on ricefields.

Brazil: climate change threatens agriculture – Brazilian farmers have been worrying about their crops lately. Climate change has been having a negative impact on agriculture such as rising temperatures, a shift in seasons and extreme weather. Experts predict that these factors will cut agricultural output in some areas and wipe out crops entirely in others in the coming decades. The northeast will be one of the worst hit regions. There are signs that the experts’ predictions may be coming true. This month, an unusual tornado swept through the country’s south and destroyed crops and houses. At stake is a $250 billion dollar farm industry. Brazil's major export crops are soybeans and coffee. In the south of Minas Gerais state, thousands of small coffee farmers are struggling to make a living mainly because of water shortage. Higher temperatures threaten to wipe out staple foods for millions of people in the region. In five of the past ten years, rainfall was well below the historic average. "The weather pattern has changed entirely. When we need rain there's none and when we don't…look at the weather… This should be a dry period. But for the past three days the weather hasn't helped in this harvesting period." Brazil is taking the lead in global climate talks and says it will adopt targets on greenhouse gas emissions, after agreeing last year to slash Amazon deforestation in half.

Sun surprisingly active at this low point in its cycle – and the number of sunspots may not predict the solar energy impact on earth. Recent findings contradict previous thinking about how the sun behaves during low points in its solar cycle. The last cycle minimum in 1996 was compared with the one from 2008. They analyzed a type of solar energy called the solar wind – streams of charged particles that accelerate out from the sun's extremely hot atmosphere. The solar wind, unlike short-lived solar storms, streams from the sun pretty much constantly but with varying intensity. They found that, while the solar winds intersecting the Earth largely disappeared in 1996, they continued to hit the Earth at full force in 2008. These results show that "what we thought was a typical solar minimum wasn't, and what we're seeing now is a different animal." Scientists previously thought that during solar minimums, solar winds would simply blow out the top and the bottom of the sun, and not come out near the equator. Since the Earth is close to the same latitude as the sun's equator, it shouldn't experience much solar wind during a low point in the solar cycle. But in fact, the solar wind's effect on the Earth's radiation belt – a ring of charged particles around the planet – was three times greater in 2008 than in 1996. While the effects of solar winds aren't as drastic as those of a solar flare, they can still interfere with satellite orbits and radio communications. This year, the solar winds are starting to taper off. However, researchers are surprised that the reduction of winds lagged so far behind the decrease in sunspots. It may have something to do with the fact that this cycle's minimum has been historically wimpy – there were fewer sunspots during this minimum than during any minimum in the last 75 years. "In a minimum when you have a really strong polar field, it can clamp down everything else at lower latitudes down towards the equator, and really the only action is what's coming out the poles, and you get what we thought was a classic solar minimum picture, and you don't get any wind escaping. But because we have such a weak magnetic field this cycle compared to last cycle minimum … the polar field is not as strong, it can't clamp down, and stuff kind of escapes, you get these streams that squirt out at lower latitudes near the equator instead of just at the poles."

In findings sure to renew the continuing controversy over respiratory protection for healthcare workers
, surgical masks appeared to protect hospital nurses from influenza about as well as N-95 respirators did in a randomized trial conducted in Ontario. There were only two more confirmed flu cases among a group of more than 200 mask-wearing nurses than in a similar size group of nurses wearing N-95 respirators. But other experts said today that the study has important limitations — including the lack of a control group using no respiratory protection — that cast doubt on the findings. N-95 respirators are designed to fit closely to the face and filter out at least 95% of airborne particles, whereas surgical masks fit more loosely and were originally designed to prevent the wearer from infecting others. But health workers say the tight-fitting N-95s are uncomfortable and difficult to wear for long periods, and hospitals sometimes have trouble keeping them in supply. Surgical masks are more comfortable and cheaper, but scientists have not found much evidence that they protect wearers from respiratory pathogens.

Researchers derive formula for closing schools – For optimal social distancing in a flu outbreak, schools should consider closing when they reach 5% absenteeism on a single day, 4% on 2 consecutive days or 3% on each of 3 days, researchers in Boston and Niigata, Japan, say. The group bases its recommendation on absentee data gathered over four flu seasons from one 54-school district in Japan.

WHO will not act on unpublished Canadian data – A teleconference convened Friday by the WHO to assess the validity of unpublished data linking seasonal flu vaccine and development of H1N1 flu did not find the association persuasive. The data by Canadian researchers, contained in an article that is in press at an unnamed medical journal but apparently has circulated widely, has led to almost universal scaling back of seasonal flu shot campaigns in Canada.

China has confirmed the nation's first pandemic H1N1 death
, an 18-year-old woman from Tibet's capital, Lhasa. The ministry said it has confirmed 21,453 cases of pandemic flu and that 78.7% of the patients have fully recovered. On Sep 21 China became the first nation to start vaccinating its people against the novel H1N1 virus.

Seasonal vaccine may help fight H1N1 – Contrary to most other evidence, a study from Mexico suggests that seasonal flu vaccine may offer some protection against the novel H1N1 virus. Researchers compared the vaccination status of 60 H1N1 case-patients and 180 control patients at a specialty hospital. The H1N1 patients were less likely to have had a seasonal flu shot. But the authors say the study is limited by its small size, retrospective design, and the high prevalence of vaccination and chronic conditions in the control group.

Spring wave may have given NYC some protection – New York City and a few other cities that had big H1N1 outbreaks in the spring are seeing little activity now, leading to suggestions that the spring wave spawned a significant level of population immunity. City health officials believe that perhaps 20% to 40% of the population were exposed to the virus in the spring and gained immunity. But city officials and other experts agreed it would be unwise to assume that New Yorkers don't need the H1N1 vaccine.

Canadian H1N1 vaccination to lag US by weeks
– Canada's national campaign to vaccinate residents against the H1N1 flu is likely to begin in early November because attempts to move up the shots' delivery have not been successful. The US campaign uses multiple suppliers and began with a roll-out of aerosol vaccine; Canada uses only one manufacturer, and aerosol vaccine is not approved for sale there.

A Michigan man who barely survived a battle with the H1N1 virus
is expressing support for the vaccination campaign. The man, 53, was in excellent health before he fell ill with the virus in May. He was hospitalized for 7 weeks, required mechanical ventilation, and lost 37 pounds. "People need to know that the risks of the vaccine are minimal compared to the risks if you get ill with it."

Signs in False Shepherds & False Religion
"For among them are those who worm their way into households and capture idle women burdened down with sins, led along by a variety of passions, always learning and never able to come to a knowledge of the truth. Just as Jannes and Jambres resisted Moses, so these also resist the truth, men who are corrupt in mind, worthless in regard to the faith. But they will not make further progress, for their lack of understanding will be clear to all, as theirs was also." 2 Timothy 3:6-9

Atheists say prayer makes them physically sick
'My stomach did a somersault with disgust'
October 7, 2009

Atheists recruited to be part of a lawsuit that is trying to rid government ceremonies such as the inauguration of a president of any invocation or other prayer have claimed they are made physically ill by prayer. "As I watched the inauguration, my stomach did a somersault with disgust for how much our country was violating the constitution (sic), the most important document in our country," wrote a 15-year-old in testimony being given to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia. The lawsuit was filed before President Obama's inauguration and subsequently was dismissed at the district court level. Briefs now are being submitted to the appeals court in plaintiffs' hopes the case will be reopened. "I felt a temporary state of disconnection when these religious statements and prayers were made during the inauguration," wrote another paintiff, according to an appendix of information submitted with the plaintiffs' recent arguments in the case. "All the prayers made me feel excluded from the political process and a second-class citizen," wrote another. "But, when Chief Justice Roberts asked the president to say, 'So help me God,' I felt threatened and sick to my stomach."

Suit: Remove Ten Commandments
October 6, 2009

LOCKLAND – A Lockland resident has filed a lawsuit against the village, claiming a display of the Ten Commandments outside the town hall is unconstitutional. Christopher Knecht wants the sign removed and a court order to prevent any future displays of “religious fables and myths.” The sign has been there for as long as many can remember but wasn't noticed by Knecht until recently. “When I saw the Ten Commandments there, it dawned on me this is one of those towns that uses a theological basis in their decisions,” Knecht said. “This is a Mayberry type of town and they’re still stuck in the 20th century.” Village Administrator David Krings said he was unaware of the lawsuit and could not comment. Knecht is not the first to raise such arguments in Greater Cincinnati. In 2005, the U.S. Supreme Court declined to hear arguments that the Adams County school district should be allowed to have a monument on school grounds.

Oprah or Jesus: Who's right?
Evangelical author Josh McDowell takes on theology of media icon
October 4, 2009

DALLAS, Texas – "One of the mistakes that human beings make is believing that there is only one way to live, and we don't accept that there are diverse ways to being in the world. There are many paths to what you call God." Oprah Winfrey said it. And when she did, many Americans who love Oprah believed it. But one of the best-selling living evangelical authors, Josh McDowell, is not about to sit back and let that statement go unchallenged. The result is a very unusual book – both in Christian publishing and in the world of secular literature. Get your autographed copy of "O God" exclusively from the team that published it – WND Books and the WND Superstore. It's called "O God: A Dialogue on Truth and Oprah's Spirituality" – and its official debut in bookstores nationwide comes tomorrow.

Hamas children's TV program again calls for the 'slaughter of Jews'
October 5, 2009

A popular Hamas children's program that usually gives advice to youngsters, such as instructing them to listen to their parents, aired a call for the "slaughter" of Jews in Israel late last month, according to Palestinian Media Watch. All Jews must be "erased from our land," Nassur, a stuffed bear who hosts the weekly program, Tomorrow's Pioneers, on Hamas's Al-Aksa television, explained to a child who called in to a September 22 show. "We want to slaughter them, Saraa, so they will be expelled from our land… we'll have to [do it] by slaughter." Nan Jacques Zilberdik, an analyst at Palestinian Media Watch, which translated the program and regularly monitors Palestinian media, said Tomorrow's Pioneers, which comes out of the Gaza Strip, is available via satellite around the world. The program often blends pragmatic advice with hate, she said. "Generally the program also transmits good messages to kids like drinking milk or asking parents permission to do something, but we also find these very problematic messages like the call to kill Jews," she said.

What Temple? Fatah says 'only a Muslim holy site'
'U.S. partner' demands Jews, Christians be banned from praying on Mount
October 4, 2009

JERUSALEM – The Temple Mount does not exist alongside the Western Wall, and neither Jews nor Christians should be allowed to pray on the Mount site, Dimitri Diliani, the spokesman for Fatah in Jerusalem, told WND in an interview. Fatah, once named by the U.S. as a Mideast "peace partner," is the party led by Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas. Diliani spoke hours after Fatah and PA officials were accused of inciting a riot on the Temple Mount, claiming Jews were threatening the site. "Don't use the term Temple Mount," Diliani lectured WND. "It doesn't exist. I don't know where it is. I cannot see any Temple. Can you? No one can find any trace of it. The area you refer to is only a Muslim holy site." The PA, though, has found evidence of Judaism's historic connection to the Mount – the holiest site in Judaism. The Waqf, the Islamic custodians of the Mount, conducted an unsupervised excavation on the site in 1997. At that time, the Waqf, working under the guidance of the PA, ultimately were caught by Israeli authorities disposing truckloads of Mount dirt that contained Jewish Temple artifacts. To this day, Israeli archeologists are still sifting through the large amount of dirt, in which scores of Jewish Temple relics were found.

Faith under Fire
“Blessed are you when they insult you and persecute you and falsely say every kind of evil against you because of me. Be glad and rejoice, because your reward is great in heaven. For that is how they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”  Matthew 5:11-12

“You will be hated by everyone because of my name. But the one who endured to the end will be delivered.” Matthew 10:22

U.S. Lawmakers Urge India to Bring Justice to Christians
By Babu Thomas
Christian Post
Sat, Oct. 10 2009 09:40 AM EDT

A group of U.S. lawmakers have written to the Chief Minister of India's eastern state of Orissa, calling for action against those who have carried out attacks against Christians. "Such attacks on the fundamental freedom of religion threaten not only India's reputation for religious diversity, but also the very stability of India's secular democracy," the 21 lawmakers, led by Trent Franks (R-Ariz.), state in the letter addressed to Naveen Patnaik. Just over a dozen people have been convicted so far for the anti-Christian violence that erupted last year and many remain at large. In August 2008, Hindu extremists carried out the worst religious persecution in India’s 60 years of democracy. At least 120 people were murdered, 250 churches destroyed and over 50,000 individuals displaced. Thousands remain in refugee camps, fearing more attacks if they return home. "Given the recent experience with religiously inspired terrorism, we are concerned that if Hindu extremists can act with impunity toward religious minorities in India, these extremists and their ideologies will begin to affect international security as well," states the letter, released Friday, according to Agence France-Presse.

Christians in Iraq fearing more violence
Cath News
October 8, 2009

The kidnapping and death of a Christian health worker in Iraq's Kirkuk is worrying the Christians in the area and is contributing to the exodus of Christians from the country, said the city's Archbishop Louis Sako. Major General Jamal Tahir, the police chief in Kirkuk, told the Voices of Iraq news agency that the body of the kidnapped man was found during the weekend, UPI reported. Imad Elias Abdul Karim, a 55 yea -old Christian nurse, went missing on Saturday in Kirkuk, the Zenit news agency said. He was reportedly snatched from in front of his home. Police said they found an envelope containing a 9mm bullet at the scene of the crime. reported that the police found him dead Sunday night, and noted that the body had "obvious signs of torture." Zenit reported that Archbishop Sako had made a public appeal for the man's release, and called the situation of Christians in Iraq "worrying." He said that, increasingly, "Christians are a target of violence."

Christian Girl Attacked For Saying She’s Pakistani

DHAREMA, PAKISTAN (BosNewsLife)– A Christian schoolgirl in Pakistan's Punjab province was recovering Sunday, October 11, after she was allegedly "ruthlessly beaten" with a bamboo stick by a Muslim headteacher for saying she is "a Pakistani" citizen. The bedridden Nadia Iftikhar, 11, told BosNewsLife she was seriously injured when the teacher of the local evening coaching school 'Bright Future Academy' in the town of Dharema got angry because she challenged her views on Islam. “Our teacher was teaching us about the culture of Pakistan and Pakistani people and quoted a sentence from the text book saying 'We are Pakistani and all of us are Muslims'," the girl recalled. "At this point I interrupted and said: "Madam, I am also a Pakistani, but not a Muslim instead I am a Christian." The teacher, identified as Humaira Hassa, "got furious and grabbed a bamboo stick and started thrashing in a barbarian way and kept saying all Pakistanis are Muslim, you are not a Pakistani but a Christian," the girl said. "Your home land is some where in Europe or America," the teacher allegedly said. Nadia added showed scars of the wounds at her back. Classmates said the girl briefly became unconscious, but was eventually brought home. The teacher could not be reached for comment.

Christians having horrendous time in Pak thanks to 'intolerant' Islamic laws
October 4, 2009

Washington, Oct.4 : Christians in Pakistan have been going through a harrowing time in the country with numerous violent attacks being reported against the minority community in the recent past. Last month, severe violence had erupted in Punjab's Sialkot district. A Church was also torched by agitators claiming that a Christian youth named Robert Masih had desecrated the Koran. Masih was promptly arrested after the incident, but was found dead in his jail cell on September 15. Police claimed Masih had committed suicide, but his family said Masih was brutally beaten and tortured during his detention. According to The Washington Times, all the recent attacks targeting Christians, who accounts about four percent of the 170 million population of Pakistan, were provoked by hate speeches made by Muslim clerics on loudspeakers from mosques. People believe that the rising intolerance and violence against minorities in the country was due to the promulgation of Shariah law and the increasing influence of extremist ideology. "The rising intolerance and violence against Christians is a result of the Talibanization and promulgation of Shariah law in the country," said Kanwal Feroze, a renowned journalist.

Al Shabaab extremists shoot 69-year-old after finding Bibles on him at checkpoint.
NAIROBI, Kenya, September 18 (CDN) — The faith journey of a long-time underground Christian in Somalia ended in tragedy this week when Islamic militants controlling a security checkpoint killed him after finding Bibles in his possession. Militants from the Muslim extremist al Shabaab killed 69-year-old Omar Khalafe on Tuesday (Sept. 15) at a checkpoint they controlled 10 kilometers from Merca, a Christian source told Compass. A port city on the Indian Ocean 70 kilometers (45 miles) from Mogadishu, Merca is the main city of the Lower Shabele region. Leaving Mogadishu by bus at 7:30 a.m., Khalafe was carrying 25 Somali Bibles he hoped to deliver to an underground fellowship in Somalia. By 10:30 a.m. he had arrived at the checkpoint controlled by al Shabaab, a rebel group linked with al Qaeda that has taken over large parts of the war-torn country. A source in Somalia who spoke on condition of anonymity told Compass that the passengers were ordered to disembark from the bus for inspection. The Islamic militants found 25 Somali Bibles in one of the passengers’ bags; when they asked to whom the Bibles belonged, the passengers responded with a chilled silence.
